Best luxury cruise line for young professional gay couple?

We love regent! My partner and I both work so the shorter cruises are better for us and tend to attract other working professionals!

Hello all! Hoping for some insight into a topic I’ve pondered for a while...

 

I am a gay partnered man in my late twenties — both of us are high income earning professionals and fortunately travel budget isn’t much of a concern for us.

 

I was fortunate to grow up traveling with my parents (only child) and developed a fondness for cruises. My partner did not grow up cruising, but has enjoyed the handful of Caribbean cruises we’ve done in the winter to escape the northeastern cold. He enjoys them not only for the weather, but for the gourmet food (also my biggest priority), entertainment, and meeting other young couples—mostly gay couples in their 30s, but young straight couples as well. 

 

We’ve been doing Celebrity, which we enjoy for the lack of children, emphasis on food (especially in the specialty restaurants), decent quality of entertainment, and the fact that we can find other people close enough to our age range — several couples in their 30s. Thing is, I’d really like to try a luxury line for the better service, guest-to-crew ratio, more deck space, etc. My partner is (justifiably so) concerned that luxury cruise prices make them non-conducive to most people our age, and those ships will just be filled with even more people in their 50s and 60s. Nothing against this age range to be clear!! It’s just that we enjoy the social aspect of cruising and find things in common when we meet other young professionals close to our age. 

 

With that, any recommendarions in which luxury lines could be the best fit for us? We’d love to give one a try next February—I was thinking Seabourn, guessing that it’s a younger crowd that Crystal or Silversea ... but I may be wrong. I’ve enjoyed Oceania cruises with my parents but age-wise that crowd is too old for us.

 

Any thoughts welcomed!!!!

What cruise did you choose?

Ritz Carlton is coming out with their ships that look very nice & we like the Ritz Carlton Hotels.

Crystal ships are old, small staterooms/ships were originally built for Asian markets & passengers quite old & be ready to dye your hair before boarding.

We avoid Carnivore Corp lines except  Cunard.

It's TRUE about the mega ships / ship within a ship concept.  There is no getting around the thousands of other passengers. 

We did Azamara several years ago & really enjoyed it....food, service, facilities on board.

We also like Siversea for the European flair. We cruise for destinations now so that determines our choice.

 

Amazingly we took a msc shop to get to our winter home..a balcony cabin w breakfast delivered, most meals in buffet...no prom nites etc and we enjoyed it..better than any airport experience.

We are older than you both, but have exclusively traveled on Celebrity and Azamara.  We love them both.  We have always met younger gay and straight couples on Celebrity and although Azamara tends to range a little older, it is an extremely gay friendly ship and we have met several life long friends on those ships and have befriended many of the crew,.  We love Azamara as a smaller upscale ship.

We were on the Azamara Journey in November and enjoyed an extraordinarily gay-friendly experience.  The Captain and Cruise Director hosted 2 significantly large LGBT cocktail parties, one in an upscale room with waiters, so splendid that straight folks came to see what it was all about.  On other nights there was always a non-hosted LGBT happy hour, so well-attended that we called it the "gay bar."  After dinner the disco become the LBGT hang out.  And one lesbian couple had a vows renewal ceremony, attended by many of the LGBT Pax, as well as the Hotel Director and the Assistant Captain.  We felt completely welcomed and embraced.

I think that you will enjoy Cunard particularly the Queen Mary trans Atlantic, it attracts a significant gay crowd of all ages, flirty, formal and fun. Gay, Bi and Trans.
