That's it. This isn't a contest.

Prizes will not be awarded. Discovering the joy of photography is the prize.

The idea is to get folks out using their cameras for more than vacations and toddler birthdays.

Post one. Post many. Up to you.

Have fun with your camera and share your fun with others!

Spring has sprung and the rain delays are seemingly over for now. 70° and sunny is baseball weather and the fields were alive with chatter and the ping of aluminum bats. This is Matthew’s second year of baseball and has moved from T-Ball to Rookie League. The main difference is instead of a tee, the coach serves up a slow overhand toss to the batter. After three attempts, the batter switches to a tee. While there were no towering hits to the fence, the tee only came out occasionally. Fielding improved as well with less swarming of any moving ball from all positions like last year. What position is Matthew trying for on the roster? Designated hitter. Less running involved.

My nephew passing thru on his way to Yuma MAS.  Was great to see him , if only for a quick lunch - been out of country for a while.  Final approach:

Much older than he!

Not too complicated:

A favorite - god bless these warriors!

Saturday turned out to be a lovely day in the wetlands - I didn't expect much, as it started very cloudy, but lots of wildlife diversity was out there, and then the sun came out too.  Here's a selection:

Native green (Carolina) anole lizard, flashing his dewlap at me:

The always-in-motion black-and-white warbler, running up and down tree trunks and branches looking for grubs and bugs to eat:

A lovely little blue-headed vireo in the shady cypress forest:

A yellow-bellied sapsucker male, hanging off a cypress tree - his drill holes evident on my side...he's waiting for those holes to ooze sap, which he'll eat...hence the name!:

It's hard to believe anything would be this colorful in nature - seems a bit conspicuous!  But the male painted bunting is a showy little fella:

A few other critters were out too - like this young raccoon who was busy scratching an itch when he was interrupted by me, pointing a big white lens barrel at him:

Well this next one isn't exactly scenic location-wise.  But one bird we do NOT see often down here is the bald eagle.  Those of you up north and out west are used to them, but we maybe see one every 2-3 years, and it's about 2 miles away in flight.  On my way home from the wetlands, passing the local high school, I noticed a large black bird with white on him - at first, thinking osprey, until I saw the entire body was black and just the tail and head were white.  I pulled into the high school parking lot, over to the football stadium...and there, atop a cell phone tower, was a lovely bald eagle:

There were actually 4 of them - an adult couple, with two juveniles...they had nested atop that tower.  I got some shots of the juveniles flying around, and the adults, more at a distance...all requiring heavy crop even with 600mm of reach.  But bald eagles are a very very rare treat for me, especially here in my hometown!
