Ocean Medallion Wristband?

I would like to order wristbands for our upcoming regal cruise at the end of the month.  I understand princess had problems with them and they are not available.  I also have heard that people have used fitbit zip wristbands from amazon.  Has anyone had any success with this?  Do the medallions fit best in the "new style" zip wristbands or the "old style"?

We purchased the fitbit zip wristbands for our upcoming cruise. The medallions fit in, while it is not exactly a perfect fit, they will not be able to fall out either. I was able to buy a 4 pack in different colors for $8 off Amazon. These are the ones we bought: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HCHE6DK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Ditto what Lindsaygal said.  We ordered the Amazon fitbit zip bands and since we had a medallion from our CB cruise last fall we can attest that they fit ... not perfect but close to it.  A much better deal than the ones you could purchase on board or the lanyard option...unless fashion is important.

I am currently on the Regal.  I bought the band on Amazon and it does fit.  I like it better than the lanyard.  A couple of times I have had an issue because some hand-held devices used by the crew have a recess in them, and the lanyard set up works better. It's not a big deal.  The flat pads used for most purchases and for getting on and off work great with the wristband.  We love the medallion experience.  Lots of Medallion crew are still onboard working out some glitches, but it will be difficult to cruise on a ship without it going forward. I'm a fan!

Would you recommend getting the wrist band style for going on excursions such as river tubing, snorkeling, beach, etc. so you don't lose them?  What would happen if you lost your medallion while you were off the ship?

Personally, I would keep them in a plastic bag of some sort and in a pocket somewhere where it would be secure (like a pocket in a pair of jeans where it's not in a floppy type of pocket. If you lose it, it would be just like you lost your cruise card. When you would get back to the ship you would tell the crewmember who will be scanning the returning passengers that you had lost your medallion. What I suspect they do at that point is to escort you onto the ship to Guest Services where they would issue you another medallion or a cruise card. They may be able to pull up your photo by entering your last name or cabin number into their scanners and comparing your face to the photo that would come up and just allow you to go to Guest Services yourself. I've never been around anybody who has lost their medallion/cruise card off the ship so I'm not sure how their exact procedures work for that. I have lost a cruise card on board a ship, however, and when that happens you just go to Guest Services and they issue you a new cruise card. At least that's what happened when I lost my card.

OK further search and see this four pack in day glow colors for $7.89 https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Accessory-Wireless-Activity-Wristband/dp/B01HCHE67G/ref=sr_1_10?crid=24PPKVDMFY0TZ&keywords=fitbit+zip+wristband&qid=1566344647&s=gateway&sprefix=fitbit+zip+%2Caps%2C219&sr=8-10

Matter of fact I think I like the first link better in white. Even Princess official wristband at $10 each comes in bright colors - did not see white.

I got something like this a few months ago (via Amazon, but I think it listed an Etsy store in the package when it arrived). I like it as it slides right on to my existing watchband. I haven't tried it out yet, so I hope it's not too bulky, but I am thinking it's 1 less thing to wear separately (I always wear my watch)

We paid $12 in June for our wristband while on board the Royal.

Thanks, I saw $10 quoted on a Princess video, so have not seen actual onboard prices. What choice of color did you have?

Don't remember all the colors as we were looking specifically for black and that was the first option the representative pulled out of the case.  I asked my husband about the color selection and he thought he remembered black, red, blue for sure and then maybe some other more colorful ones but can't say for sure what they were.

@Italy52 @Tedferg The sportsbands and clips come in black, blue, purple and pink. Sportsbands are $10 if purchased pre-cruise through OceanReady and $12 at OceanFront on board the ships. Clips are $7 if purchased pre-cruise through OceanReady and $8 at OceanFront.

@wildcats40 If a guest were to lose their Medallion while off the ship, the guest would present their government i.d., and port security would radio the ship and to come meet the guest at the check point.  After confirming the guest's identity at the check point, crew security would then search and confirm the guest's security photo and clear them to embark the ship. Once back on board, that guest would go to the guest services desk to request a new Medallion.

is / if Princess is still offering the option of getting a cruise card 'instead' of a Medallion ... will that process end and only the Medallion will be available if you choose to cruise Princess

as an aside ... your postings are very much appreciated ...

Yes, cheaper in advance, but shipping charges make them more expensive.
