eng58 Posted March 14, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 14, 2019 We will be cruising the South Pacific March 2020 and are looking at staying in the over-the water-bungalows, prior to our cruise, perhaps at the Hilton or Maneva in Moorea. Was hoping for some feedback on these two hotels or others you would recommend. Lori
Petoonya Posted March 15, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 15, 2019 (edited) The Hilton bungalows are fabulous. Nice size and amenities. Setting is amazing. We had beautiful views of the lagoon, mountains, sunrise and sunset from our bungalow- a real panorama. Hop down the ladder and you are at possibly the best snorkel site in all of Moorea. Stingrays, pufferfish, an octopus- we even saw a couple turtles. The food was outstanding with big portions- they are used to cruise passengers. It's a place we will definitely return to. If you do some research on Tripadvisor you can find the best bungalows there and request. We had 86 and loved it. Hopefully you'll get some feedback here on other places. But I studied extensively before visiting and found more people extolled the Hilton's virtues and any other. FlightMedic555 Posted March 16, 2019 #3 Share Posted March 16, 2019 We have stayed at the Hi,ton 5 times per cruise. It is great with spectacular snorkeling. A number of restaurants will provide free transport for dinner.

Rare TLCOhio Posted June 29, 2019 #6 Share Posted June 29, 2019 From the Sydney Morning Herald and other Fairfax newspapers in Australia yesterday, they had this headline: “Moorea, French Polynesia travel guide and things to do: Nine must-do highlights” with these highlights: “The wickedly-indulgent accommodation concept of the overwater bungalow originated in this part of the world and Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort & Spa is a luxurious example, with giddy tariffs to match. It features a necklace of lavish overwater bungalows. Luxury resorts aside, the relaxed Moorea Beach Café enjoys one of the choicest lagoonside locales of any restaurant on the island. Be sure to secure one of the coveted waterside tables at sunset then sit back and savour one of the menu's excellent fish dishes, such as wasabi-crusted seared tuna with creamy mashed potato.” Sounds like a tasty treat in a super scenic location!!?? Although our February 2020 South Pacific cruise does not include a stop at Moorea, others might arrange visiting there after completing the official cruising schedule. Here are some other good tip for this famed location: "Moorea, like everywhere else in French Polynesia, is overshadowed by Bora Bora yet it is every bit as spectacular and, for that matter, far more authentic. Don't be captive to your accommodation on Moorea. Rent a vehicle for at least a day to properly explore the island. The scenic, coast-hugging main road that circumnavigates the island is well-made and maintained, and there's also the bonus of being able to glimpse daily village life along the way. Beware, Mooreans drive on the right side of the road." Full story at: http://www.traveller.com.au/moorea-french-polynesia-travel-guide-and-things-to-do-nine-mustdo-highlights-h1elm7 THANKS! Enjoy!
