Stone Crab

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

In 2018 we visited Joe’s Stone Crab in Miami before a cruise.

This year we will arrive in New York on the AOS may 17’th.

I just  Wonder if there is a similar restaurant to Joes in NY, and what your experience was/is ?

Regards

Arne

There are thousands of restaurants in NYC serving all sorts of foods.  Stone Crabs are more of a southern creature, so if someone was serving them in NYC they wouldn't be as fresh as at Joe's, which has made a very nice and long living in Miami.

If you are looking for seafood in general, you will find lots of options for shrimp, scallops, lobster, crabs (other kinds), etc, and all sorts of fish all over the city.

Maybe not quite as fresh, but you would be amazed at how much seafood travels by air.

I did some work that got me behind the scenes at a major airport, and MANY pallets of live or iced seafood were being moved.

Absolutely, but there's nothing like Joe's there and Stone Crabs are hard to find on NYC menus

One place where you can find stone crab claws is the Oyster Bar Restaurant in Grand Central Terminal.

Hi Arne. Have you ever tried Maine lobster? I think if you like stone crab you’ll like Maine lobster. That’s easier to find in NYC.

I'm not surprised that someone named "Langoustine" would know that .  :classic_wink:

I find I like most crab.

Stone, Blue, Dungeness, King, Queen, Snow, Mud, etc.

Crab be GOOD.

I prefer crab over lobster for most things.  But I do like an occasional lobster roll, and LOVE Lobster Thermidor.
