We enjoy Punto de Vista on top of the Hotel Milano.  Great fish tacos, mofongo and BOGO mojitos before 5PM.  Be sure to get there early or you might have a wait. Service is good, prices are reasonable.  For a totally different experience and atmosphere,  Marmelade just down street from there is $$$$, great for foodies, reservations are a must.  Check out both on Trip Advisor.

If you see this before heading out.  In addition to Punto de Vista, there's Barachinas, Café Manolin, and El Jibarito all with local food at reasonable prices.  For a quick bite La Bombanera or Mallorca have great coffee and (obviously, mallorcas)

DH and just had lunch at Raices just 2 blocks from the pier. It was excellent and the waiter helped us understand the menu and order traditional food. This restaurant was recommended to us by two different friends who go to San Juan regularly to visit family.
