pub for US NFL draft

Recommended Posts

We will be in London, near Waterloo Station on the first day of the NFL draft.  It will be at midnight, on April 25th.  As I am an avid NY Giants fan I'd love to be able to see it.  Can anyone suggest a pub not too far from Waterloo Station that might have this on TV?

Thanks.

Can't comment on whether they will have the NFL program, but suggest checking out the Duke of Wellington Pub, which is directly across from Waterloo Station.

Great selection of real beers and also Bud, etc.. Had a great lunch and few pints. I recall that they do show some N/American sports, so might be worth contacting them.

My reading of this

https://www.techadvisor.co.uk/how-to/internet/how-to-watch-nfl-draft-uk-3676244/

is that it will be shown on Sky Sports.

Sky Sports is the go-to TV service (ten sports channels) for sports pubs - every sports pub will have Sky Sports.

I have no idea how long a game lasts, but a game starting at midnight (UK time) will be very problematic since most pubs (including the Wellington) close at around 11pm.

Because of the timing, if you were in a small provincial city your chances of seeing the game would be zero. But if it's going to be available anywhere in the UK, London is by far the most likely place.

I can only suggest that you google "Sports pubs Waterloo" and trawl through, looking in particular for opening hours.

You'll probably have to broaden your search to "central London", or  even "London nightclubs with Sky Sports"

One small advantage of the timing is that it's almost certain not to clash with any other live sports event

Because Sky Sports needs an extra subscription as well as a Sky subscription, the chances of it being available on TV in your hotel room, or even one of the hotel's public rooms, are near-as-dammit zero.

Brew a large pot of coffee before you surf the internet, you're in for a long search :classic_wink:

It's in Leicester Square, the heart of "the West End", and it's open 24/7

About a 20 minute walk, or a tube (not back to the hotel because of the time) or bus or taxi ride from Waterloo.

They only ever televise the Superbowl here, not any other games, let alone the draft picks.

Seven had a game every Monday. (Seven 2 I think)

Lucky for me, then, that I will be in London, rather than Australia.

Thanks.  I emailed them and they weren't sure of their plans yet and said to check back, which I will.  Also thanks for the closing time info.  I had a notion that pubs closed a lot earlier than bars in the US - typically 2 AM - but didn't have any definite facts about it.
