Anyone changed US$ to XPF lately in Papeete or Moorea

Just wanted to know recent exchange rates as don’t want to use ATM’s.

Sorry, I can't help with an exact answer to your question.

I was in Papeete, Moorea and Bora Bora early in May and most tourist outlet marked their goods at exactly 1$US:100XPF. You could pay with $US10 note or 1000XPF note. Though when offered both they took XPF, possibly just simpler to handle.

ATM will give about 10000 XPF for $100 USD.  Staffed currency exchange at PPT airport will give about 9100 XPF for $100 USD. About 10% less at counter.  If you are staying at a resort they will usually exchange $$ at the same or better rate than the airport counter.

Why not use the ATM? ATM is often the same rates if you went inside the bank. Sometimes the item cost less using XPF, I always use XPF or my CC which charges no extra fees.

Here is what we saw on April 18th:

• We got 10,000 XPF from an ATM for $94.89 (USD). 
• Using a credit card, it was 10,000 XPF for $94.39 (USD).
• Whenever we paid cash in $USD,  it was $1 per 100 XPF.  i.e. 10,000 XPF for $100.00 (USD).
