Marseille to Carrieres des Lumieres

We really want to go see the Carrieres des Lumieres in Les Baux de Provence, along with any other places we can in the end of May.  Anyone rented a vehicle to do this your self? Or have a tour company you recommend? Thanks

We have certainly driven to Les Baux and the nearby Lumieres place on a few occasions both from Marseille and when we rented flats in the region.  I cannot speak to tour companies (we tend to avoid all tours) but you can certainly rent a car in Marseille (there are quite a few rental car agencies located in the immediate vicinity of the St Charles Train Station).   I would suggest either renting a GPS device or having a smartphone with enough data so that you can use it for directions.  Depending on the length of your port day and how fast you get yourselves into a car, you should have enough time to visit another place (in addition to Les Baux and the Lumieres) show.  One suggestion would be to stop in Arles during your return.  Others like to combine Les Baux with a visit to St Remy (there are some interesting Roman ruins just outside this town).
