Walking B Street Pier to Petco Park, San Diego

Recommended Posts

It can be mostly water front, which will make it longer than direct walking. It passes by the Midway, through some shopping areas and marinas. It is not a beachfront or ocean front walk. Flat, easy walk. I would walk it, or the more direct route in any event, not take a taxi. Have walked in that area many times.

Only a small part of the walk is harbor front. The rest is hotels and the convention center.

Take the trolley (Green Line South) at Santa Fe Depot (1 block away). It will leave you right at Petco Park/The Gaslamp Quarter.

It is if you walk on the water side of the shopping center until midway through, or just past the Convention Center. As I said in my post, it is not the most direct route if you walk by the water.

Yes it's a nice walk and plenty of places to grab a cocktail along the way.  The nicer walk is a little longer.  We have walked it along the waterfront a few times.  From Petco there is an overhead ped crossing between the south end of the convention center and the Hilton.  That will drop you right on the waterfront.  You can walk north along the water in front of the convention center, into Seaport Village, past USS Midway and to the pier.

If you're up for stairs, instead of the ped overcrossing, as you look at the convention center you will see stairs going from street level to the top deck.  You will probably see a bunch of "Rocky" wannabees running up/down them.  Those will take you up and over the convention center where you can get to the waterfront sidewalk and head north.    Walking along Harbor is the faster route but nothing to look at with plenty of traffic to watch out for.  If you're hungry try Tin Fish just next to Petco.  Good food with nice outdoor seating and the trolly stops right there if you decide to take the trolley.
