lumpkin8 Posted April 8, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2019 For a 1 day visit (plus a ship's excursion) would there be any reason to bring some Taiwanese dollars for the port, for some local purchases? Might credit/debit cards be readily accepted, or perhaps US dollars?
loeb Posted April 8, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2019 For tips on the excursion, I gave US$. Major purchases you can use a credit card, but I got NTD$ at an ATM to use at the Keelung Night Market and for other small purchases.
Philob Posted April 10, 2019 #3 Share Posted April 10, 2019 Use NTD.
ROCruiser Posted April 11, 2019 #4 Share Posted April 11, 2019 Agree with Philob. I believe they prefer to receive NTD. Exchanging currencies is not as easy as 1,2,3 in Taiwan for locals. If they get certain US dollars (with certain letters or numbers on the bill) they cannot do the exchange. At least that's what I have been told by relatives there.
