New Taiwan Dollars needed in Tapei/Keelung port?

For a 1 day visit (plus a ship's excursion) would there be any reason to bring some Taiwanese dollars for the port, for some local purchases?   Might credit/debit cards be readily accepted, or perhaps US dollars?

For tips on the excursion, I gave US$.  Major purchases you can use a credit card, but I got NTD$ at an ATM to use at the Keelung Night Market and for other small purchases.

Agree with Philob. I believe they prefer to receive NTD. Exchanging currencies is not as easy as 1,2,3 in Taiwan for locals. If they get certain US dollars (with certain letters or numbers on the bill) they cannot do the exchange. At least that's what I have been told by relatives there.
