Purchasing Sim card to use in USA

We are travelling to Hawaii cruising to Vancouver then 7 night Alaska cruise, then Las Vegas going for 30 days,  has anyone purchased a sim card in Australia to use in USA I'm looking for one that we can ring Australia mobiles any assistance greatly appreciated.

With Vodafone you can call from the USA for $5/day.

Our phones are with Vodafone so we use their $5 per day roaming when travelling overseas. You are only charged for the days you actually use your phone up to 90 days per year.

o.k. thank you we are with Optus who want to charge $10 a day, 3 weeks to go will go and see Vodaphone and find out?

You can either pop into a T-Mobile store when you get there, or you can buy one in advance from Simcorner https://www.simcorner.com/?__store=aus

 

I’ve done it both ways. It is handy having it in advance!

 

I have Vodafone too but for 30 days it’s much cheaper to get a local SIM. $150 Vodafone versus $40 or so.

It may pay to make sure the carrier you go with has coverage in the places you are going. I am pretty sure T-Mobile will cover them all in your case but I did a mid west driving trip prior to cruising and I was advised on TripAdvisor that Verizon had better coverage. I had good coverage just about everywhere on our long trip.

 

Certainly helps to do the extra bit of research when working out your trip.

We had no problems with T mobile in North America, cheapest all round ,purchase online before you go.
