Has anyone left La Romana and taken transportation to Punta Cana area and done excursions there? I understand it is about 50/60 miles away, but has so much more to offer. Any info would be great.

Punta Cana is about 45 minute drive from La Romana. Road in perfect conditions almost a straight line.

Punta Cana is a tourist region with malls, restaurants and different activities. As with any tourist destination, you will have different experiences depending on the places you choose and the budget you manage there. Large shopping mall, good food, many options.

Bavaro is about 15-20 minutes from Punta Cana. More people, hypermarkets, fast food restaurants..

Cap Cana (Juanillo Beach) is about 10 minutes from Punta Cana... Amazing place. You can spend the day at the beach there and eat lunch at a restaurant in the middle of everything.

La Romana is more of a town with Casa de Campo next to it. I have no clue on how entrance to Casa de Campo works but there is Golf, Beach, Shooting Range, Tenis, a Marina.. restaurants.
