Most of the time you are at sea - makes no difference ocean is ocean

And most of the ports are tendered. When going by the Volcano the ship does a 360 so both sides get a view if there is anything to see.  I've been 3 times and have yet to see anything so you can't count on seeing any lava.

You won’t be able to see land for the sea days and once on Hawaii 2 of the ports are tender. Hilo is industrial and no real view. Perhaps starboard for sunsets, but that may not be accurate!  Choose a cabin you like and for this itinerary don’t worry which side. 😀

First five days are probably at sea, heading south.  Do you want to see the sunrise or sunset... Port for sunrises, Starboard for sunsets.

You usually arrive in port early and do not leave until the evenings... (Either Side)
