ALaver Posted April 20, 2019 Author #76 Share Posted April 20, 2019 Thanks for the Walmart idea. They are going to cab over there and pick up essentials. They are still in the same clothes as when they left Boise yesterday at 5:30am, so something different to wear would be great. They do have all their medications, so if they can’t get the bags, they can still make the ship. Fortunately, trip insurance will reimburse them for everything they need to buy. BTW, I did get through to Royal Caribbean and Symphony is not closing boarding until 4pm today, so they should be okay. This is my dads 60th cruise and never has anything like this happened before.

I hope that after all of this, they take a few minutes on the ship to just... sit. And then, maybe eat. Adult beverages are optional. --bruce T. Really hoping all works out. Just a thought -- have them make list of what they want from Walmart on way over and, when they arrive, ask Customer Service people if someone can help them gather things (toiletries, etc.), perhaps while they pick out clothes. Or maybe someone can just escort them around so they can get out of there more quickly. Sometimes, folks can be very helpful!

By the time they got to Kansas City, (cause that flight was delayed as well) they had 3 hours at a hotel and had to be back at the airport at 4am. Once they get on board, I think it’s game over for a few hours, lol.

mhafod Posted April 20, 2019 #81 Share Posted April 20, 2019 And once they are on board and in a few years, that would be a really nice story to tell the grand kids. Hoping for the best and that they will be on their cruise real soon.

Glad they are going to Walmart, great news about Symphony (although I think that it always leaves at 4? Last week Muster was at 3:45 and we were on our way at 4:45, maybe closer to 4:30)..Non the less - I will be thinking of them!We are at FLL airport today and it’s a ZOO here...flights cancelled yesterday made for many changes and delays today as well as people delays..lots of offers for ‘volunteers’ to take other flights etc..my friend at MIA was offered $625 to fly MIA to MCO to PHX instead of the direct flight...unfortunately she is destined for SNA and that would mean she can’t get home until tomorrow .. but still lucrative! ALaver Posted April 20, 2019 Author #83 Share Posted April 20, 2019 Yet another update, sorry folks. They have had to just go to the ship as their bags were not going to arrive until at least 3 pm. I guess there will be a shopping trip tonight on board? I’m trying to work with American to try at get the bags to Roatan, but right now there is a 2 hour hold time.

Rare KmomChicago Posted April 20, 2019 #85 Share Posted April 20, 2019 Thanks for keeping the updates coming. So glad they will make the cruise at least, and hope they picked up some underwear and a few basic outfits at Walmart to get them going after they have a very long nap. ALaver Posted April 20, 2019 Author #86 Share Posted April 20, 2019 They were able to do that, so they have the basics. Fingers crossed that American can get the bags to either Roatan on Monday or Costa Maya on Tuesday.

Cel_cruise Posted April 20, 2019 #91 Share Posted April 20, 2019 Just announced a delay to sail until 5:15 for late arriving passengers. Doh! Figures this happens after you get on board on time but so Glad you made it! A cruise is what you make of it and I am sure you will have a great time! My 1pm flight left over an hour late from FLL today and we were one of the ‘lucky’ ones. RC must have a lot if passengers still missing (and some confidence that waiting 45 minutes will help!)Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

ALaver Posted April 23, 2019 Author #100 Share Posted April 23, 2019 For those following along, still no bags. It sounds like they "should" get them on Wednesday in Cozumel. Now, they are not the only people in this same situation. Apparently there are about 40 families without luggage on this cruise. Medical was able to get my father some of the medical supplies that he is missing, so if he does get his bag on Wednesday, he'll be fine. RCCL Guest Services has been trying to help as best they can, getting them some t-shirts to wear and working with the airline to locate their luggage. Oh well, its been an adventure for sure.
