Walking Tour on you Own??

So just looking at the port area, seems like a nice area to just walk round on your own and see the sites.  We like to check things out on our timeframe whenever it's possible and of course safe to do.  From everything I have read about St. Croix, it seems like this is the perfect place to do this.  We will be on a 14-day cruise with lots of ports and other beach days, so with our first time to St. Croix, would just like to absorb the town area.  For anyone that has visited here, does this seem reasonable?  We recently went to Grenada and actually did this and got to experience so many different things and had a great time on our schedule (not a tour schedule), lol.  Thanks for any input!

I don't remember there being much of anything around the port.  Frederiksted seemed like just a regular town to me with not much for tourists.  Drake may have some options since he lives there.  We rented a car and drove across the island.  That was actually a lot of fun since I'd never driven on the left side of the road before.  A good place to get my feet wet since there were no confusing intersections and not a lot of traffic.

Thanks so much for responding.  I think we've decided to take a tour and go over to Christiansted and explore and then come back to the port area.  We were looking for a low-key day at this port.

I am not seeing the year for this thread.  But my husband & I are on a longer port intensive cruise in Nov, 2019.  We are hoping to just grab a taxi or walk the pier area when we dock in St Croix.  Is this still possible?  The craft booths "Drake" mentioned in another thread, sound great. Wondering if they will be there on Sat Nov 5, 2019.  Also what is current cost of taxi?

Banditswife - we are on same cruise

I am thinking this is a very old thread, but hoping to just walk around the port area here.  MY2MONKEES:  have you logged onto the roll call?  I don't remember seeing that sign on.  I am so looking forward to this awesome cruise.  CYA on board.

I love my town and I think you would certainly enjoy it. Lots of great little shops and boutiques, restaurants, bars, and beautiful churches. You can absolutely walk around and explore.

do you know how much a taxi is  from the pier to Christiansted?

want to visit the 4 casinos there. (Divi Carina Bay Resort & Casino, Casino at Hotel Caravelle, St. Croix Golf Resort and Casino, Seven Hills Golf Resort & Casino)
