Are there any venues for ballroom dancing on Viking Ocean ships?  Small combo would be fine....

Thanks!

If you are used to, for example Cunard's Queens, you will not find such on Viking Oceans.  Dancing seen onboard would be more like bistro dancing, not ballroom formality and big bands.

Looking for something like the "old" Holland America Ocean Bar, where they would have a 4 or 4 piece combo playing danceable music.

We have seen a duo and a trio playing in Explorers.  At happy hour then again later in the evening.  When Torshaven opens I seem to remember the other venues lack musicians.  Not much of a dancer so others might provide more accurate info.

sometimes in the evening there was a piano player in the main atrium and there's enuf room for a few couples . . .

we were always up in Explorer at this time however

there were basically 3 evening entertainments: a guitar player, a classical strings group, and a piano player ..... they rotated in the evening daily.  I suppose there would be room enuf in explorerer for a couple or two but can't say ever saw it .. .

Hi,

We went on our first cruise with P&O and knew they had ballroom dancing so had lessons especially. We hoped there would be some on the Viking Star and there was, a little. We went to Torshavn after the show and the band did a few songs and announced they were a waltz or a foxtrot etc but the floor is quite small. Luckily our teacher had taught us how to dance steps on the spot until a gap opened up to move around!

Thanks to all so far!

We were on Viking b/b and never saw any ball room type dancing.

Cunard is the line for you if that’s what you are looking for.  We enjoyed the experience on Viking much more than the stuffiness and very mediocre food on Cunard but if the dancing is important to you it may be a good choice.
