Formal night dress

I have looked for something current on this subject but cannot find anything.

 

Is the dress code for formal night enforced? We have read that men are required to, at least,

wear a sport coat. We are doing a 14 day cruise from Hamburg in August & would like to

eliminate as much packing as we can. This is our 1st MSC cruise.

Your choice but I would think a tiger would want to show his/her strpes.Enjoy your cruise.

Not enforced, no sport coat or tie required.

As long as you look neat and clean...slacks and button down shirt at a minimum.  The staff does appreciate it when you make an effort.  Shorts, T-shirts, flip flops and baseball hats are really frowned upon.  You will find the Europeans make an effort and some of the others are clueless.

No it is not enforced , however it is respectful to dress smartly 

there will be many many people who do dress formally 

If you really want to be casual you can visit the buffet anytime without the need to dress formal

We always dress for dinner, just didn't want to carry a suit/sport coat if it's not needed.

On our Northern European/Baltic cruise last year the majority of men did wear suits or jackets on Elegant night, and trousers and shirts on the other evenings. If you wear a smart shirt and trousers it will be perfectly acceptable.

Typically, two elegant dress nights.  Not enforced.  First night, I wore shirt and a tie, second I did wear jacket.  But did see someone get asked to leave for having a short and t-shirt in Restaurant.
