Has anybody snorkeled from a cruise  on your own to Kahalu’u bay?

If you want great snorkeling on your own, rent a car and drive to Two Step.

It's a more advanced snorkeling site - entry and exit are via a lava bench, so you have to watch the swells.  It's amazing from the second you get your face in the water. Octopi, fish, eels, and the water is so clear...

 

Just know this is not a beginner's spot.  The Museum /state park it's next to is also worth going through. It's a really neat spot,
