Winter at NYC Area Airports ?

We're scheduled to sail out of NYC on January 4th 2020.

Flying in from California.

Plan to arrive a day or two earlier.

 

What are the "odds" of the airports being shut-down due to inclimate weather during this period ?

 

Any odds-maker out there ?

The chances of heavy snow in early January are not that bad, but it can happen. The airports can handle it. Just make sure you arrive a couple of days early and you should be okay

For any one day?  Under 5% chance of a closure in winter.

 

For two days?  Under 1%, but if the airport was closed on one day, the next day will still see problems due to catching up on all the missed flights.  Get insurance, just in case

Try and fly into city after 2nd Jan.  Hotel pricing is very high for New Years; most people depart the city on 1st or 2nd
