What games do you play to maximize points on RCCL?

I am relatively new to cruise ship casinos.  I have done a lot of land based casino gaming over the years playing tables and machines.  Most recently I have been playing video poker at the $1 and $2 level.  The pay tables for Double Double Bonus is poor and Jacks or Better is even worse.  While I seem to be doing OK accruing points I have not had a winning session in many cruises. On my last cruise I tried the penny Quick Hit machines.  Money lasted longer and got my points for a comped cruise but in the end it was the same financial result, a loss.  Although, table games would seem to be the obvious solution the rate of point acculturation is very slow unless you are betting several hundred a hand or roll.

So my question is, what specific games or machines do you play?  What amount do you wager and how long do you expect to play to reach your goals?  Also, do you play to win or for comps?

All of the games will result in a loss over time, nothing you can do about that,

I play to play, I don't expect to walk away "up" but I enjoy the action, that being said I spent way less time at the craps table then I normally would because the points earned were abysmal and if I am going to lose I would rather get a little something back.

I would often play a little craps, double up my bank roll and then go spend in the machines

VP may have better payback percentages but you only earn half the points per dollar wagered as you do on slots, so the question is, does the VP machines have half of the expected house advantage as the slots. I kind of doubt it as you said your money lasted longer.

I will say that the money I have saved on cruises though the casino has more than made up for what I spent to earn prime on my last cruise.

mathematically I figured it would cost roughly $2000 to earn prime but that was assuming a very low payback percentage, I earned with about 20% less.

to get the most bang for your buck you are far better doing it on a single cruise as you will then earn 2 free cruises. one from the ship and one for the prime tier.

I spend most of my casino play at a 3-card poker table,  I do play various slots when the tables are not open or full.  My "normal" points from slot play is ~600-700 on a 7-day cruise.  My total points earned on those cruises is 6k-10k, so the bulk of my points are accumulated on the tables.  Enough points last year to reach Masters tier.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Garmy4:  All the cruise companies rate your play differently.  Casinos on board ships are basically unaccountable to any regulation.  Be sure you enjoy what you play.  I like to play craps.  It is the most friendly game in the casino.  It is the only game in the casino where on certain bets you get paid true odds.  Can you still lose, yes.  Every bet in a casino has a casino edge to it.  If you wish to have success in the casino learn the games you like well.  Know all the permutations of the game.  You will only have a 50% chance at best.  Do play Video Poker because I enjoy it.  Also play slots sometimes because my wife enjoys it.  Don't have specific goals when I play.  Winning is nice, but, like most other gamblers it is unpredictable.
