Congrats Hal2012. Curious to know, was the website showing that RS were available at the time of your bid? We have just been offered to bid on the penthouse but there are non showing as available on our cruise. Assuming it's a contingency plan for a cancellation rather than a true opportunity to bid for an upgrade. Sorry in advance for X-ing the rules about asking questions on this thread, not sure where else to ask.

Not really certain how the upgrade happened.  I did not check RS availability when I made the bid. I offered only a small amount above the minimum.  The Sky suite we held was an aft cabin and should have been a good choice for someone else, but I doubt it would have made much difference.  It truly is a mystery to me, but we are grateful and looking forward to the trip more than ever.

Family Veranda and Concierge Class are offered at only $100 per person minimum to bid, and Aqua Class at $150 per person minimum, but we are happy with our current stateroom since we have not cruised in a Sunset Veranda previously.

 

We would have bid on a Suite but the starting prices were very high:

Sky Suite: $1,000 per person minimum

Celebrity Suite: $1,500 per person minimum

Signature Suite: $2,000 per person minimum

Royal Suite: $2,500 per person minimum

 

When we booked, pricing for a Veranda Guarantee was $1,499 per person, and we were able to upgrade to all 4 perks with additional shipboard credit through CruCon. When our cabin was assigned we were surprised that Celebrity upgraded us to a Sunset Veranda. In my opinion, upgrading to a suite at the current minimum pricing is not worth it for an 8-day cruise.
