hello! Would like to hear any tips about traveling with and bringing additional bottles of wine onboard. Looks like a corkage fee per bottle after the 1 allowed. Any info would be great!

Traveling with wine is one thing - if you are driving, it’s easy.  If you are flying, it has to be in checked luggage - consider risk of breakage.  Many people bringing wine on board just stop at a liquor or grocery store on the way to the cruise terminal.  HAL allows one bottle per passenger - before applying corkage fees.  If you go for high end wines, you will do better to bring your own and pay the corkage, which will be less than the on board mark- up.  If you are happy with their least expensive wines, the on board prices will likely be less than your liquor store cost plus the corkage fee.

The wine needs to be in your carry-on luggage.  If it is checked, it will be flagged during the checked bag security scan and the luggage will sent to the ship's  'naughty' room where you will have to claim it later (after sail-away).  Assuming that you will have it in your carry-on, after going through security, you will be directed to a table manned by HAL crew members who will record the number of bottles you are bringing on board.  Not sure how much wine you plan to bring, but remember you will be responsible for carrying it through the check-in and security process.  if it is a lot (like a case), I suppose you could use a porter to check it (you will need a HAL luggage tag with your stateroom number), and deal with the 'naughty' room later.

Welcome to Cruise Critic.

Flying -- all wine and alcohol needs to be in your checked luggage.  If you are going directly to the cruise terminal, you will need to move the wine from your checked luggage to your carry on luggage.  Any wine left in your checked luggage when you get on the ship will result in you reporting to the "naughty room" and you will not get that wine back until the end of the cruise.
