Holy cow "The Key" went up in price big!

Quick/early on....quick/early off. That's 90% of the value of The Key, and it's included in a JS.

The other "The Key" stuff is mostly fluff and questionable dribble. Just read all the posts of people who got "The Key" and then reported back how little it really brought them and how they'd "never get it again".

This is just a hilarious statement. You have been railing against The Key for months. It is ok to not want an item purchased. it does not mean everyone else is an idiot that wants it. The perks have a lot of value to some people

. I bought it originally for the flowrider perk and internet. I thought I would enjoy the others. I honestly thought that the embarkation and disembarkation was useless. So your 90% value was worth 1% to me. However, my hubby just had a hand surgery so zero activities on our cruise. And maybe it will be nice to drop the bag that he usually lugs  of ours and have our luggage in easy spot when we leave , since he will not be carrying off as usual. The point being, that in the blink of an eye, I value different perks of The Key. Your assumption of whats fluff is just that, an assumption.

Enjoy your junior suite. You will get on one minute earlier than me. Thats the only Key perk you have.

Surprise, surprise, it's back down in price in my cruise planner this morning, with "20% off" banner on it. 😒 Still more expensive than it was before they hiked it up, though.

I'm just amazed at the prices people are willing to pay especially on vacation. I will take earning privileges the hard way if that means taking more cruises over paying for instant gratification.

I agree.  If taking a cruise is doing it the "hard way", I will be able to do this for years to come.  This is truly a first world problem.

Totally laughable. It's about "bang for the buck...and The Key provides very little of it except in 2 cases - when the price is at the minimum rate (which doesn't happen all the time and in fact is exploited at a much higher rate as many have reported), and also on large ships where a few things are available at a few times for a few people. Board early or getting off early?  That's easy to accomplish given some planning and with nearly any status above Gold. The rest of the "benefits" are predominantly "fluff", as they can be procured at an equal or lesser cost. When you see people paying $576 or more on a cruise for 4 people for these things...it's just a darn shame they can't see the light. Informing them it's basically a price-gouging scam in many cases is doing them a n educational and useful service, in contrast to your portrayal.

Why do you care so much?? No one is forcing you to buy it so why do you continue to post and complain about something you have no interest in and have so much distain for? I  am not naive and do not need you to show me "the light" and save me from the big bad RCI price gouging conglomerate. What you are doing is not a useful and informative service but basically telling those of us who have decided to buy The Key that we are poor misguided children who need you to tell us how to spend our money. After my cruise I will post my review in The Key Review thread so that people can read real time reviews (not speculation)of what worked and what didn't work so that they can decide for themselves if it is worth it or not.

  • Caring for other passengers is a good thing.
  • Providing information that will help fellow passengers is a good thing (including avoiding pitfalls, ripoffs, etc.).
  • Discussions/responding to requests for insights about costs, cruise features, excursions, programs, ships & their features, etc. are the primary focus of this site.

Some people do those things, some don't. It's all good.

I'm 34 days out and the Key is on sale for $29.99.  What goes up must come down.

Yeah mine is back down too but not as low as it was.  Now it's 24.99 from 31.99.  It was 19.99 before the jump.  Having had it on our little 3 day Mariner cruise I saw value in it but just not sure it is going to be worth it on Adventure in Dec

Hopefully for you...if you want really it...you get the $19.99 price.

Even at $19.99 I wasn't interested. It's just me and my wife. $10 for internet for one device is more than we need. I would rather eat at Long Horn steakhouse or Outback than at Chops. Be both have back issues so not flow rider rock wall or iFly for us. We already have free reservations for the shows and North star. Im not sure if North Star is part of the key package but you can bet if I don't know that the staff doesn't know either. We have never found embarkation or disembarkation to be an issue and we travel in steerage.

Thanks for your added info. It points to the fact that there are 2 sides to the "like/dislike" views about "The Key".

I should  have added that for those who are traveling with family $19.99 and $24.99 was a good value if they all wanted internet service and the kids would benefit from the private activities. The luggage drop off and early embarkation and escorted disembarkation is an added value if you have young children to prevent them from getting lost in the crowd especially on an Oasis class ship.  I'm not sure if it's still worth it @ the new price. I think I would opt for a larger room instead.

Of course there are opinions of its value. Lots have given opinions as to the value of the product to them. You are singular in telling key purchasers how we do not know how to handle money, we are part of a price gouging scheme, are unable to discriminate" fluff " from actual services that are of value to us.

And you clearly do not even actually understand what perks you get in a junior suite. Enjoy your silver card and robe. Oh wait , are you Oasis class? Have a nice meal at CK. Thats the value.

I am so excited to see your new pic? Will it be a giant diamond graphic or maybe the actual sparkly one. Have a terrific cruise.

It doesn’t seem worth it to get the Key for the few benefits it offers.  I don’t mind keeping my carryon with me and we never had issues getting a good theater seat ....

I agree.  Personally, I see no benefits.

Anyone paying attention to this thread and numerous parallel comments would know that there are far more than a "singular" assessment as to how "The Key" has questionable value on multiple fronts.

I don't recall seeing a single post that stated "we do not know how to handle money" nor "unable to discriminate "fluff" from actual services". It would be great to have you point out those exact words anywhere for confirmation...or are they your interpretation of comments.................yeah...we thought so...

What's clear is that the higher the price of "The Key"...the larger the disconnect between the benefits and the value.
