Sorry, but thru the years we've noticed a lot less supervision of children on board.  It is NOT ok to allow kids to run around the dining room.  They are a danger to themselves, servers, and other guests.  It is NOT ok to throw food.  (my adult daughter was issues a "free laundry" ticket when an urchin at a nearby table missed his intended target and got chocolate goo on her).  It is not OK for them to steal items from server's stations (or stateroom host carts)!  It is not ok to keep your screaming or crying child in the dining room, although I can see debate on this one.  Sorry--I removed my child from a shoreside restaurant at the age of 6 when she just would not "settle down" and was annoying other diners.  I asked the server to have our food packed "to go" when it came up, and took it and her home.  Funny, we never had another behavior issue in any restaurant!

I've experienced none of this on our cruises.

I love cruising Disney! My wife and I still take a cruise with them every other year or so..

I also cruise other lines.

When I cruise Disney I get an "obstructed" view veranda with a big portal wall.

When I cruise any other line a get a suite with a veranda and usually save a chunk of change. I love my Disney vacations and until they are no longer worth it to me I'll keep signing up for them.

The best customer service I have ever had was on a Disney cruise..

They find a way to wow me every time...

i enjoy the other lines but they don't come close on service so far...

We love DCL with and without our older kids, 18 and 22. They are welcome to come if scheduling permits. But it’s true, some passengers let their children run amok all over the ship. It was so bad during our 2017 Mediterranean cruise, I swore it would be our last. Thankfully a spa day and a Palo dinner made up for the foolishness I saw. We’re going back this September hoping for well behaved few and far between children. Don’t get me wrong. I love very well behaved, polite, genuine people of all ages. We all deserve the best vacation that Disney offers.

I have a different perspective then most of the posters.

I too have cruised Disney with my family and loved it. Disney does the best job around providing an unforgettable experience for children. They however charge a premium for doing so.

As many have attested, the experience for adults only is also excellent. The influencing factor for me is cost.

Let’s say two adults pay $5000 for a standard balcony stateroom on a standard 7 day Caribbean itinerary with Disney. A similar balcony on a similar cruise with a different cruise line will run between $2000-$3000. That to me is a big difference. Moreover, if those two people are ok with $5000 for the week, why not get a suite on another line with speciality dining every night etc.for the same amount.

Cliffs: For adults only, I think other lines prove more bang for your $.

We find DCL for a veranda cabin weighs in at about what Cunard charges for Princess Grill.  Both are experiences we enjoy as adults for different reasons.  The DCL advantage for us is no casino and an absence of relentless upselling (particularly noticeable on Celebrity!).  There also seems to be less alcohol consumption?  Whilst Cunard still has a formal style and the remains of old fashioned elegance, it is more staid and less upbeat!  We are off on the Fantasy again early next year.  We will finally earn Platinum, most of which has been done as adult only. Which brings me to my main gripe about DCL.  The Castaway Club status is based solely on number of cruises.  Since we only do the longer cruises (7 days or more) we have spent far more time on board than someone who has only done short hops from Canaveral.  I suspect that Disney makes far more money on these short trips? It really is a "first world problem"!

We still think that Disney has the most beautiful ships, and the cost no doubt reflects the reduced income from the big earning casino and bars plus the elaborate kids clubs.

We did a Disney Cruise in the Southern Caribbean this past Jan.  as a couple only for our 24th anniversary.  I was amazed how many kids were on the ship (2 weeks after winter break) but it didn't bother us.  We hung out at the adult pool area and in the clubs.  The shows are fabulous and enjoyed meeting other couples.

I don't think I would do it again though as there are other ships that have nicer adult areas and the entertainment is good.

We don’t go to casinos and love Disney. I went on my first Disney cruise at 7 and have been cruising with Disney every other year taking advantage of the OBB perks since 2011. I was thrilled to go to Palo when I was 18 and really enjoy cruising with Disney as an adult. I am not into rock climbing or dancing or drinking, but I still love meeting with Disney characters. I am glad that I am just like my mom who’s an even bigger Disney fan than I am. She prefers cruising with Disney too and enjoy the wine and liquor tastings on-board. She is a teacher and can only cruise in peak seasons. The price difference is not as huge to justify sailing with the Mouse during peak seasons.

I have done three Disney cruises with adults only and it was great. Most of the time I saw less kids than other lines because of the adults only places on the ship. I am planning on doing another adult Disney Cruise possibly this coming February. I thought it was a great experience.

I am happy with kids friendly (for the young at heart) and adult only choices offered by Disney. I enjoy seeing kids getting excited meeting with their favourite characters. I also enjoy quiet adult downtime. I can choose between family activities and adult only activities. I make the choice I want at the time I want.

On the other hand, I saw kids went into the gym once and were trying out the equipment for a good while. After I was done my exercise, on my way out, I told the CM at the Spa desk about it and mentioned the incident on the comment card. This is a greater safety issue than kids being in the adult only areas. I just wish parents can show more respect to rules and safety regulations.

What are Disney people? As for not fond of being around children. Celebrity and Princess are low cost and basically child free. Also very nice ships to offer.

Princess was anything but kid free in July.
Because they don't expect a lot of kids there were no kid free zones.. The hot tubs were kid soup.

We are a childfree couple and like to cruise Disney. I've done a lot of lines and I've found Disney to be among the best at keeping kids away from adult areas. If you are cruising as an adult couple, you won't have to eat with kids either - you will get placed with other childfree adults.

Princess and Celebrity are almost kid free if not totally kid free. They have not much of anything for kids and cost a LOT LESS. Cruise while kids are in school. I cannot see twice the price. Kids love Disney and I can certainly understand that. Some adults also love Disney. To each their own.

Yes we like Princess a lot.

We never cruise Disney when school is out. Never go to Walt Disney World when school is out either for that matter. When you cruise Disney in the off season the prices are much more "normal."
