Carseat for Ports

Good morning, we are cruising on a Christmas Cruise this December and our port of calls are CocoCay, Costa Maya, Roatan, and Cozumel. My daughter will be 16 months on this trip. We have found several "excursions" for her to attend on (such as a beach area, or a wildlife tour) but my question is car seats... she will be out of her carrier by then, do I need to lug around a convertible car seat? I mean those suckers are heavy and a pain to install and uninstall over and over. Wondering if there is something I am missing for her. Or if anyone can shed any light on this.

Thank you

Ask this on the Family Cruising board over under Specialty Cruising on the main page.  You will get more information.  Child seat laws probably won't be as stringent as U.S.A. laws and just having  the tot on your lap may be okay.

but the laws of physics will remain the same. An unrestrained tot on your lap will fly out of the car outside the US as well as he would inside the US.

Just a thought for the OP, from a couple of Grandparents with two toddler grandchildren.  We do understand that lugging one or more child seats, stroller, and all the other stuff you need for toddlers is a real hassle.  Humans simply do not have enough hands to deal with all that stuff.  So on behalf of all the happy Grandparents we have a solution.  Bring along the Grandparents (as a gift) so they can help handle all that extra toddler stuff.  And you can even take advantage of most Grandparents and "assign" them some baby watching duties :).
