calcaterrasjk Posted May 6, 2019 #1 Share Posted May 6, 2019 We are sailing on the Sun later this month in a sail away balcony. We did bid on a mini suite as well. We got our room assignment about 2 weeks ago (deck 9 balcony!). Is there still a possibility of getting the upgrade?
Rare All-ready2cruise Posted May 6, 2019 #2 Share Posted May 6, 2019 There's still a possiblity, however, b/c you booked an SA balcony, it means you may have less of a chance than someone who booked a full price balcony but who knows. It really depends on the status of the sales. Is this cruise selling well, are there many cabins still available, have there been significant price drops?? There are many things which can and do determine what is a possible bid outcome... positive or not. Good luck.
calcaterrasjk Posted May 6, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted May 6, 2019 Thanks for the reply! Prices have actually gone up (which is surprising as there seems to still be a lot of cabins left!) We are really pleased with the cabin we got so we won't be disappointed at all if that's where we end up.
timf2001 Posted May 6, 2019 #4 Share Posted May 6, 2019 I've been upgraded from Sail Away to Haven before, so it's definitely possible. Getting a room assignment for your guaranteed cabin is normal and doesn't impact the bidding process.
rydi8 Posted May 6, 2019 #5 Share Posted May 6, 2019 To my understanding, it's not everyone that gets the opportunity to bid for an upgrade so it's still a possibility and is more dependent on your bid amount, demand for your assigned stateroom type, and availability of your upgrade stateroom type than your original stateroom booking. At last, someone who understands that a previously-paid price has no impact on NCL's ability to generate additional revenue through the bidding process.
