Princess Room Service

Good morning,

Did Princess charge for room service? What types of items do they have? Thanks, Bobbi

Just of the Royal this Past Saturday and there is NO charge for room service with the exception of Pizza. Pizza delivered to your cabin will cost you  $3.00

 

after 2AM there are No hot item selections, only cold sandwiches. I was told because at that time they are cleaning the grills and food prep areas.

There's no charge but everyone on this board seems to tip them at least $1 or $2 per delivery.

Note: if you sail on one of the newer ships (Royal, Regal, etc.) the room service menu is "enhanced" with mostly upcharged items. The free stuff is still there, just more from which to choose.

We are sailing on the Coral princess in mid-June (In Alaska).

Room service drinks are not covered by the premium beverage package

Everyone on this board does NOT double tip. The automatic daily gratuity on your account covers all food service gratuity. Why did you even see fit to start a controversial topic when the OP never asked the question. Now that you brought it up the OP needs to know the facts. Princess took all the guess work out of tipping.

Crew members often rotate to different vessels within the Princess fleet which helps to maintain our high standards on every ship. These dedicated workers reflect our philosophy that all crew on all ships are but one family who share in our success.

To simplify the tipping process for our guests, a discretionary gratuity of $15.50 per guest for suites, $14.50 per guest for mini-suites and club class, and $13.50 per guest for interior, oceanview, and balcony staterooms. Effective on voyages departing on or after May 21, 2019, the gratuity charge will be $16.50 per guest for suites, $15.50 per guest for mini-suites and club class, and $14.50 per guest for interior, oceanview, and balcony staterooms. This gratuity will be shared amongst those staff who help provide and support your cruise experience, including all waitstaff, stateroom stewards, buffet stewards, and housekeeping staff across the fleet.

The "enhanced" menu is only on Regal. All the other ships are still the normal, old room service menu..

Many of us do tip room service a couple (or a few) bucks for each delivery.

Many do but not. Everyone as the poster stated is an attempt to influence people into doing it their way.  Most people i know do not keep tipping because  the auto gratuity took care of that. But posting that  without a flame suit takes courage on this board.  It's wrong to state everyone, or no one because only Princess knows what everyone does. . Why not state what you personally do or what your opinion is.  The best way to impart information is with facts which is why I posted directly from the Princess web page.

Of course you don't have to tip extra if you don't feel it necessary but a majority of the people do give a little extra especially what it's a full meal at breakfast or dinner.

Feel free to tip or not. The staff will smile at you either way.

I have no way to gauge whether the majority tip or not, nor do I care.  As for me, I chose to tip.
