Different boarding times

Recommended Posts

Thanks.  There are actually 15 of us, 7 being children.  Could we all check in at my time of 9:30?  The others all got 10:30.  Do we then board right after checking in?  I am not very familiar with Norwegian and their procedures.  I was wondering how long from checking in to actually being on the ship.

Turn up any time you feel like, you will have to wait before priority boarding but once they have cleared you are free to board.

Once you check in you will be given a number and you board when your number is called.

Yes, they don't really use the times of check-in, however, it gives pax a time when they can check-in. Some pax like to check-in early, some later. The times allocated seem to attempt to spread check in out a bit so that not everyone arrives at the terminal at the same time.

Don't worry too much about your timing, you'll be fine.

Have a great cruise

Now I'm a bit confused.  We did the on-line check in and had to pick a time.  We all chose 11:30 to be the same.  But you are saying we can show up at anytime and still maybe get on the ship?

Some cruise lines (carnival) has staggered check in times to control crowd flow and are very strict enforcing the time. NCL put the mechanism in place to do staggered check in but currently they have not implemented the procedure.

Check in has nothing to do with boarding. When you check in you will receive a number and that is the group you will board with. They will call priority boarding (certain Lattitude members, Haven, Suite, Casino at Sea, etc) and then they begin calling the numbers such as the one you received to board the ship.

My husband and I received different boarding times.  Mine is earlier.  Can we both board at the earlier time?

You have different times to "Arrive at the pier".  It is NOT a check-in time. It is NOT a boarding time.

All that being said, NCL does not enforce the time to arrive at pier

As part of check-in, you will be given a boarding group number (not a time).

Once the ship is ready for boarding, priority guests (e.g., Suites and top tier frequent cruises) will be allowed to board (around 11:00). Then general boarding starts (before 11:30) by boarding group number.

Thanks for all the input but I am still confused 😐  Not too difficult on my part!  I am the grandma and this is our 50th anniversary.  Wondering what would be the best time to arrive given all the priority guests ahead of us.  We would like to arrive early enough to book go carts, laser tag etc and specialty shows.  However,  do not want to be waiting  a long time after check in to board with children.  What would you suggest?

Thanks,

Ann

we normally arrive about 11, to minimize waiting (that used to be the earliest arrival time)

try and find out the show times for your itinerary & where to make reservations in advance - send one adult to do shows, another laser tag & race track.

are the kids under 18? they might want to join the kids club (unfortunately another line in a different location), that should also be done the first day

congrats & enjoy your cruise

One in our group originally put in 9:30 when she did the on-line check in.  We are on the Bliss for Alaska.  Apparently it would be useless to show up that early since they don't let people on the ship until at least 11am anyways?
