Embarktation at Cape Liberty

Recommended Posts

We cruised Anthem in October of 2018 and had the worst embarktation in our 15 years of cruising. The lines for drop off were terribly long and when we finally got to the cue person cars were only let in one at a time!  We are crusing again in December and wonder if this is a continuing problem as we would definelty alter our arrival time.

Thanks in advance!

I’ve cruised from Cape Liberty many times since 2008.  Occasionally backups can be an issue.  IMO it’s all about the timing of your arrival.  What are your exact plans time wise?  Are you driving yourselves or are you coming by other transportation?

The secret is to arrive between 10 and 10:30.  As the day progresses traffic backs up on the port road.  Earlier this year I chose to arrive later because Anthem was undergoing a deep cleaning.  Big mistake.  It took about an hour to go from the light rail station to the drop off.  There ended up being no boarding delays at all so I could have come much earlier.  The relatively short security lines and the IPad check in are very quick and they just keep people moving through the process and onto the ship. The Compass times show that the food venues are expecting folks at 11 am and the boarding Usually meets that time.

We were being dropped off by our son. We planned our arrival for 10 AM, being willing to wait to get on board. We did not get to the drop off point till Noon.  Our Royal Genie was frantic wondering where we were. The ship departed one hour late. Not looking forward to this again.
