Merged Topics - Server Errors

Recommended Posts

Ditto ... a bit of news on the "good" side for those of us who missed Tapatalk, it is "apparently" back for CC - I managed to do several posts earlier this afternoon/early evening here with success, uploaded pix from within that APP.  It is nice to have an option to read/post/follow & get alerted about subscribed threads, etc.

I have that SQL server 500 problems as well, on Chrome browser - Firefox seemed fine, both running Windows & also on a Linux "Mint" laptop.

Try closing the browser, clear the cache/cookies & open a new tab to the main forum, and try to navigate from there.

BTW, I also tweeted directly to CC but whether anyone is at their help/duty desk on a Sunday afternoon, remained to be seen.  An early Happy New Year 2019 to all.

Well I thought about Loading Firefox  but really it and Chrome have become advertisement headaches.

Also you wind up downloading other software attached to the program.  I cleaned all that off my computer years ago.

Shouldn't  be a long enough delay to go through that hassles again.

Glad to know it's not me either.....The RCI thread had a "very" active subject going today and now I get the "error" message too.

Also the "Ask A Cruise Question" is taking forever to load and sometimes won't.

There is nothing wrong with any of our browsers. The error means that the web server is having issues talking to the backend database. The fact that there are some forums working and others not speaks to the complexity of these forums, where there are multiple databases running.

All we can do is be patient.

Having the same problem since this afternoon.  Good to know it's CC and not my computer!

Yes ... also glad to know it was CC and not my computer!

Thanks to all who have responded so we know it's not just us.

This is the response I just received back from help@cruisecritic.com

We have been having some intermittent issues with the site this afternoon and evening.  Our tech crew will have it back to normal as soon as possible.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thanks, it's interesting to see that the site appears to be built using an Amazon platform

I've been trying to access the forums for several hours, with no luck. Just the rotating circle. Then I found the control/F5 recommendation and just as I was going the try it, the forums access came back up. Spooky.... It looks like the RCI forum last posted anything 7 hours ago. Server issues??

Appeared (#500 error/timed out) to be related to high network traffic hits to AWS (Amazon cloud) that overwhelmed the server(s) ... only the I.T. people from the inside know for sure, nah ... can be a DDoS ??

Services appeared to be improving but still not 99.75% or better ... at least the Roll Call I'm currently on is fine, able to read & post, etc. @ T minus 7 days.  Apparently, most "regulars" on the NCL forum had given up & not posting as it is not accessible, except for the headings ... tried to access it via Tapatalk, and, it was "no can't do"

Maybe it was an unscheduled external upgrade that even CC had zero control over it, just not a good way to end 2018.
