We are driving around England for 10 days  staying in some "stately homes & castles"  before heading back home via  a week in  Bangkok.  😃

Thank you Drron, Rojaan, Cruising P et al, for whetting our appetites for our adventure which starts tomorrow. Are the competitive trivials staying on? I do hope so-but have I really been swotting up on collective nouns and phobias over the past few days? Competetive? Moi?

I watched the Tower Bridge live webcam from my desk as you came in this morning and it looked wonderful but sorry that the weather has gone downhill since then.

Enjoy your castles and stately homes and for those going home, have a safe journey.

I think I might try to smuggle a supply of berry yoghurt on board tomorrow, just to be on the safe side

We went to the Panorama lounge for coffee-we had boarded at ~ 1100.Walked in and Marcos the bartender greeted us warmly-we had cruised together many times on the Explorer.Did a little reading and then to lunch in the Main Dining Room.Mrsdrron had veal with mushrooms and asparagus and I a deep fried seafood selection.Both were delicious.The seafood was just perfectly cooked.

Told suites would not be ready untill after 1600.But at ~ 1400 we went to our suite.It was ready and our bags had been delivered.We are in a verandah suite-downgrading from our usual silver or medallion suites.But only because that way we can do more cruises!

Are those official SS snacks or something of Rojann’s making?  We can’t tell if they are almond M&M’s or not.

 

Lastly, we want to be sure you and Rojann will be back in your traditional Silver Suite for the 2020 Moon crossing.  We’ve never seen one and were hoping to check yours out! 😄😁😄 We’d happily bring a pie from Spaccanapoli for our visit. 😉

The  snacks  are "official SS snacks"  😁😁😁  So the M&Ms  are the ordinary type,  there is a packet of dried fruit and nuts, and the third is  some crunchy bar snacky type thing !!  And if you eat them they get replaced.  We are on our third packet of  M&Ms !!

OH finished working at 3 am.  He is now checking the shipping forecast and has just admitted that he didn’t check to see if the seasickness medication he got precludes drinking. 

Its a lovely day so far here in London. 

better crack on and try to ensure that the cat does not manage to stowaway in the cases.

I feel abused.... We didn't get any of these.... Let alone refills.... And TTS was next  in our suite and did get them!

 

In seriousness though, I wonder how this works? Our butler did virtually zero for us (didn't even get shoes polished on either formal night)...When I eventually saw again (after intro on day 1) on day 6 I was accused of hiding from her! Hmmm... I was kinda thinking it was the reverse! Wasn't an issue though.

 

Anyway, thanks for taking us along for the ride... Always enjoyable, especially on our favourite ship 

 

The Tower is now a 30 minute walk and with the arrival being 11.15 a little early to leave for lunch and set cameras up. (So apologies no photos this time!)

 

Will be on for lunch on the day of the return, so something to look forward to.

Very cool!  Must be something new SS is doing as we didn’t receive any goodie bags in February.

Unfortunately we will no longer be in Iceland in August.We had booked a cruise on the Scenic Eclipse a new Expedition ship.It was supposed to debut in August 2018 but delayed and now that August cruise is it's inaugural voyage.We don't do inaugural voyages so have cancelled.

But England is great.Currently staying in the grounds of Osborne Castle on the Isle of Wight.

Sorry to hear that Iceland was canceled but I was wondering whether that was the case - it didn't make sense for you to be here in Europe for this long, then go home and come back 6 weeks later to Iceland. That would make for some serious flying time!

Have just finished a busy 3 day stay on the Isle of Wight with my sister and her partner.Stayed in the Sovereign Gate  2 apartment at Osbourne House.Recommend it as a great place to stay.

But back to the report.

 

We had dinner in La Terraza that night.We both started with the carpaccio.

I had the Penne all'Amatriciana and mrsdrron had the Pappardele al Ragu d"Anatra. Mine was better!

And I had a lemon sponge cake for dessert.
