Yokohama (Tokyo) - disembark time?

We are on back to back cruises on the Diamond Princess in July. Midway through the trip we stop in Yokohama (Tokyo) where some passengers will end their cruise, new passengers will join, and we will continue cruising.  The port time is listed as 6am to 5pm. Any idea once we are docked in Yokohama (Tokyo) how long before passengers can disembark? We want to start make our way to Tokyo city independently as soon as we can to sightsee and make the most of our day before returning to the ship later in the afternoon, but we also understand that passengers will also be completely disembarking.

We were on B2B cruises on Celebrity.  The first leg ended in Yokohama, as did the second leg.  On what was our turnaround day we left the ship about 9 AM to spend the day.  A great number of the disembarking passengers were already off.

The second leg we had a private car transfer pick us up at 9:30 AM.   Again, a number of the passengers had already disembarked.

As a transit passenger you should be able to leave the ship as soon as it has been cleared for disembarking, which may be between 6-6:30am. If your previous port was a Japanese port you won't have to go through passport control so it should be very quick. The may even be a shortcut for transit passenger so you don't have to go through the baggage collection area. I can't recall the Yokohama terminal layout but I have seen special exits for transit passengers at some ports. If you are going ashore quite early I recommend getting a shuttle or taxi to Yokohama station and going into Tokyo by train, otherwise you could end up being stuck in rush hour traffic.
