WoodyWindy Posted May 21, 2019 #1 Share Posted May 21, 2019 Greetings American cruisers - welcome to Bucksport, Maine! Most of you have probably booked tours to Bar Harbor, Castine, etc... When you aren't on you aren't on your tour, though, I hope you can take a bit of time to sample some of our little village's unique offerings. First, I must tell you, if you have arrived on Sunday or Monday, many of our shops will be closed. Unfortunately, that's just a fact of life for a small rural community that isn't really focused on tourism. That doesn't mean we don't have a lot to offer. Just be aware that not everything will be available every day. Here are some great things to do... The most obvious attraction as you step off the ship is our Riverwalk. Climb the hill to get to our Main Street businesses. Take in a movie at the local cinema, right across the street from your dock. Watch the marquee for some of the latest mainstream and popular art films. The Dairy Port offers delicious soft-serve and scooped ice cream treats. Browse through the selections at Bookstacks, Huckleberries, GoodDeals Antiques Stubborn Cow stained glass. Great dining is available at Local Variety Friar's Brewhouse (Run by actual Franciscan friars) Warren's Waterfront Restaurant (formerly Harborview Café) MacLeod's Restaurant Verona Wine and Design Bucksport House of Pizza (and other Italian goodies) Check out the cemetery on Main street, and look for the haunted boot on the tombstone of the town founder. If the Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge Observatory are not already on your tour schedule, check out these amazing sights. I hope you enjoy your stay!
