Raj.K Posted May 22, 2019 #1 Share Posted May 22, 2019 Costa cruises state: Service Charges:Service charges per person in Euros (payment on board): Adults and children aged 15 to 18: 140.00 €; children aged 4 to 14: 70.00 €; children under 4: FREE. This is not mandatory with MSC and RCI and in fact apart from tipping individuals on a voluntary basis as we have done for exceptional service. On MSC you can ask for this to be reduced or even completely taken off the final settlement (which we have not done). What is the expectation please on Costa? I have seen some positive and mostly negative comments on Costa, so any thoughts and insights would be welcome. I mean is service charge expected despite unsatisfactory service, i.e. does this have to considered part of the actual cruise cost - no options? Thank you. Janet&Carl Posted May 23, 2019 #2 Share Posted May 23, 2019 Service Charges are mandatory and you cannot have them removed.
Janet&Carl Posted June 3, 2019 #3 Share Posted June 3, 2019 I know on RCI cruising from Australia the Service Charges are added to the cost of your cruise - therefore making them mandatory. An I have heard and don't know how true it is that after 1 July MSC are making theirs mandatory too.
