Thought I would start another thread for Ocean Ready questions or answers to try and keep the other thread to Ocean Medallion!

Hopefully this makes things easy for people to ask questions and find answers!

Thank you for starting this new thread.

I went into Ocean.com and was finally able to reset my password and am now able to get on the Ocean Ready app. Couldn’t add my cruise in October because it’s still too far out. I guess when we are 75 days out/final payment date I will be able to add it.

Why does my Ocean Ready flip from all green to part red? Aren't I done once I complete all, print / screenshot boarding pass, and order medallion?

The Ocean Ready is really glitchy.  I just used it for the 3rd time and had to keep having them re-set the information.  I was all green and then all of a sudden went to part red and it needed our passports again.

Try calling the ocean ready phone number and have the open a ticket that you have this issue.  The rebooted mine and it went back to being all green finally.

You both mentioned your Ocean Ready turning red. What platform are you seeing this on? My Ocean Ready turns yellow (always for the documents) -- and then back to green later-- even though I have been able to print my Ocean Ready passes. I am working on an Android phone.

I do also have an open ticket with the Navigator folks as Medallion does not request a shipping address from me and says I must pick up my Medallions at the port.

Would this be the right place to ask about the other apps? I'm trying to understand the differences between them. Would someone please tell me if the below info is correct, and add/correct anything that's missing?

Ocean Ready - use at home to essentially "check in" online and order your medallions ahead of time if you choose, not used on the ship

Ocean Now - at home shows countdown to cruise date and itinerary, on ship used to order drinks and view daily patters

Ocean Compass - on ship used to navigate deck plans and find your way to various locations, as well as locate your traveling companions (if they approve), not used at home

Ocean Casino - use to gamble on the ship outside of the casino, not used at home

Ocean View - use at home or on ship to watch episodes of tv shows about various ports and Carnival ships

Play Ocean - use at home or on ship to play games (trivia works at home, not sure what else there is once on board), also use on ship to earn charms/scavenger hunt, can be used to set your avatar on ship or at home

Is that all of them? What else should we know about these app?

I believe Ocean Concierge is a webpage that loads once you're on the ship.. What is it used for?

Thank you!

The Ocean Ready app has some issues.  IT department is aware and are working to make the app less glitchy.  I too filled out the app in Jan;  had green checkmarks; ordered the medallions, to a screen shot of the bar code with green checks; a week later both my wife and my green checkmarks turned red.   After trying to figure things out; called IT department; they said they knew about issues.  Anyway.  Got to port and showed port security our two screenshots of the green checks and they let us through.  Once we got past security we showed our medallions and got onto the ship.  Bottom line; the app has some issues; if you get green checkmarks with barcode ;  take a screenshot picture of barcode and that is all you will need to get by port security.  Otherwise just show your passport and boarding pass from your cruise personalizer.

Yes we need an 'Ocean Ready 101' primer that should somebody take the time to write out hopefully our host can edit into the first post of this sticky.

I just booked a cruise last week for the end of July. Just in time to have the Medallion mailed per my PVP. But no further instructions given, and no guidance at all in my Cruise Personalizer other than imploring you to install all the apps to your phone.

No hint at all from anyone at Princess or anywhere in writing that you are not mailed the Medallion until after installing the Ocean Ready app as discussed on here.

My question is: will registering at ocean.com get the ball rolling or (more likely it appears) just throw a monkey wrench into the situation? Because I will be a tad delayed installing the app: I was planning on replacing my creaky Samsung S4 before starting my various travels late in Summer. Now my first day travelling is earlier--and thanks to the Medallion it now extremely urgent to get a vintage 2019 device for "new" apps not made retrospectively compatible with ancient five year old Androids. It is 63 days before my cruise and from what I hear (again, thanks to Cruise Critic; no thanks at all to Princess) I must request the Medallion to be mailed no later than 60 days out else I will be joining the manual check-in queue-of-shame at Port Everglades. Correct so far?

I guess I hope someone with experience will point me to the next step:

Try registering at ocean.com?

Resign myself to the fact that unless I get a new phone in the next two days I will not be mailed the Medallion?

Just play it by ear when I do get my replacement phone?

Or just don't give a toss if I have to go two weeks onboard with a non-personalized, random-color tchotchkie to wave at my cabin door?

(I would almost rather live with the latter than have to go to the Verizon store on a holiday weekend to fight my way through the gangs of shoplifting teenagers trying to find a salesperson who can help me)

I can’t answer all of your questions, but my cruise is in two weeks, and on Thursday I got a robo call from Princess saying that we could order the medallions to be mailed as late as 12 days before sailing. I had ordered them already, and they arrived by 2-day FedEx yesterday, so there should be plenty of time for you! As for the 60 days, our cruise didn’t even show up in Ocean Ready until we were 58 days out (not the 75 a lot of people have been saying).

I am getting ready to get our family " Ocean Ready" and I was wondering if I need to have each person in our party download the app to their phones in order to get medallions?  We have two different cabins for our family, and my daughter is also bringing a friend on the cruise.  Should I have her friend download the app and get Ocean Ready, or do I set up everyone's information from my phone app?

I "registered" my entire family on my Ocean Ready. We got our Medallions yesterday.

I was able to register both myself and my husband on my app, scan our passports and order our medallions.  Our passports and pictures actually carried over from our January Regal sailing to our May Caribbean Princess sailing.  So it appears once you do it, you won't have to input all the information again.

One reason to have the app on everyone's phone; would be so they could use the ocean now app to order drinks and food.  without your smartphone; you would have to take your medallion up to the bar to order drinks

I got the family "Ocean ready" using my account. However, I could only change the Avitar Picture on my account. I had to create separate accounts for each person in order to set their Avitar Picture.

I am surprised as I was able to set up my avatar picture and my DH's on my account. Wonder why?

My experience as well. Also added a new (third) avatar for a cruise in July on which we are taking a nephew. All completed using the same login.

I have only used Ocean Concierge. It is the replacement for Princess at Sea. You can view your stateroom account (really helpful), the daily patter, it has a messaging component for contacting any “friends”, it gives locations/hours of all restaurants, lets you place a breakfast order and has a portal to access the internet. It also loads deck maps with a map it function. I’ve probably left off some things that I didn’t use but I found it quite useful. The internet doesn’t work well unless you buy the unlimited plan. For those of us just using our free 150 loyalty minutes it kinda sucked. At least this was my experience two weeks ago.

It is my understanding that all shipboard WiFi is sourced from the same “pipe”.  That is, plat/elite WiFi “free” minutes and unlimited “paid” WiFi packages perform exactly the same.

Would one of our WiFi experts here comment on this please??

I'm not a Wi-Fi expert but have often used the Princess Wi-Fi on their ships prior to implementing MedallionNet.

On our recent cruise using MedallionNet for our free 250 minutes the speed was as good as at home.  I never did a side-by-side comparison to someone with an unlimited plan but our free minutes were fast & reliable on the Royal and much better than previously.

My family has two cabins.  Wife and one grandkid in room one and me and one grandkid in room two.  After boarding, my two grandkids will be alone in the second cabin while wife and I in the other.   They are 17 and 20 and responsible so I have no issue with that.  In the past, we just got extra keycards so we all could open both doors.  That won't work with medallions.

Can my medallion be programmed to open both my door and their door?  Thanks

From what I read, the ability to program the mediallions to open both doors is one of the benefits.

Thanks.  I spent about a half-hour on the Princess site but couldn't find anything.
