No. If you don't like the number bag tag you get just go to guest sevices and trade them for the time you want. Or do self disembark and carry ALL of your luggage off youself.

There is no reason to do this.   Either walk off early with our bags as we usually do, or simply go down to the front desk and aske for an earlier departure code.  

 

Why on earth lie would anyone lie about this??

Curious as to why this question would ever come up. Are there any cruise lines that, for passengers who fall outside of the early disembarkation categories (not in a suite or a high ranking loyalty member or have bought into a program such as Carnival's FTTF) will not move your assigned boarding time to an earlier slot simply upon request?

 

Perhaps the OP remembers the pre-9/11 era of passengers with very early flights meeting in a lounge onboard at around 5:30 AM, turning their hand written Customs forms to an agent that meets them there, and then being escorted off a side gangway and free to make their way to the airport before dawn. Yes, the ship wanted proof of early flights to allow you to do that. But jumping back to the present it seems the cruise lines attitude is "the more the merrier" regarding the ever growing number of passengers who want to be in the first express walk off group. No need to establish any pretense to join them.

Are you suggesting that they would prefer to hang out in an airport boarding area to having a leisurely second cup of coffee at the Lido?  

 

There does seem seem to be a growing trend to simply want to get on to the next thing. Many of the same people who show up early at the cruise terminal to sit around until boarding must be rushing to get off early.

If you have a transfer, they won't put you on an earlier one (probably a space issue).  But unless something like that is involved, I tend to agree.

There is always the early option regardless of your flight schedule.  They don't truly need to know your flight schedule.

Yep.  We were assigned a time based on our flight.  We requested an earlier transfer and were denied.   This is kind of different I think because we were on an airport transfer.  

 

For just a general disembarkation, I don't see why there would be an issue getting an earlier slot.

So if you had a airport transfer organised, why did you want to get off earlier.

Have never lied about flight times.  No need to.

 

If you are an independent and have not booked the ship's transfers, then request "self disembarkation" and haul all your stuff yourself and get off early if you need to.

 

We always stay over a day or two, thus we like to get off later.

Unless I have to be off because of an earlier flight, it's just another one of those silly opinions. "We just like to." The last thing I want to do is be one of the first people off the ship, in the massive lines of crazies rushing to sit in the airport terminal for 3 hours.

 

The last day is always a sad one. I'll stick around for as long as I can

Depending on location, one's airline status and/or ticket class staying on the ship on the last day when not much is going on has less appeal than getting to the airport early and waiting in a premium airport lounge with decent food, free drinks and good wifi.

No worries, I have always gone to the airport a little earlier, just in case of traffic or such. If there is nothing better to do may as well be there than waiting in a traffic jam

We saw a woman frantically looking for her luggage after one cruise. It turned out that they had not unloaded the luggage with the color tag she had because she had snuck off the ship an hour before she was supposed to. The rep was telling her she'd just have to wait.

Since they want EVERYONE GONE ASAP, 10pm is about the very latest you can stay...and you'll be standing around in public areas.    If you want to leave early, they certainly will not stop you...they want you GONE!
