Newbury newbie Posted May 28, 2019 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2019 Our current Aqua booking has Select Dining and obviously access to Blu. If we were booked for Aqua with Traditional Dining, say 6.15pm, does this early sitting only apply to the MDR and with Blu we could turn up anytime? mrsgoggins Posted May 28, 2019 #2 Share Posted May 28, 2019 Yes, that’s correct - you turn up anytime you wish.
Orator Posted May 28, 2019 #3 Share Posted May 28, 2019 Blu is anytime dining. Opening time depends on the particular cruise. I've seen it open at 5:30PM, but usually closer to 6:00PM.
Solution Posted May 28, 2019 #4 Share Posted May 28, 2019 Blu cannot be reserved and no fixed time dining. Just show up during the opening hours. There may be a short line up, but everyone is seated quickly.
bonsai3s Posted May 28, 2019 #5 Share Posted May 28, 2019 On our Solstice cruise last week, there was a letter from the Maitre D' Blue Restaurant, suggesting our dinner time for the first night was between 5:30 and 6:30 pm. We informed the Maitre D' that we prefer eating at a later time and he accommodated us. We showed up at 7:45pm every night, same table. The Blu was open from 5:30pm to 9:00pm. (We even had the same table for breakfast...nice.)
jelayne Posted May 28, 2019 #6 Share Posted May 28, 2019 They almost always leave a suggested dining time for the first night. There is no need to go at that time, you can go when you want.
Luvcrusn Posted May 29, 2019 #7 Share Posted May 29, 2019 On embarkation day you'll find a letter from the Blu maître d with a dining time for that night only. Please know that is only a suggestion and if the time doesn't suit you, you are free to go whatever time is most convenient, and you don't need to let anyone know. Also, patrons of Blu are often offered a first night specialty restaurant discounts (greater than the regular first night offers).

We usually take the offer.

Yes we have been offered 50% as well, although on Silhouette in December the best we could get for Murano was 35% despite some back and forth. We like dining specialty restaurants the first night of a cruise since its much more relaxed avoiding the craziness in all of the included dining rooms. Kjdb Posted May 29, 2019 #10 Share Posted May 29, 2019 Is there any particular reason why you would want to make sure to eat in Blu on your first night?
Rare hcat Posted May 29, 2019 #11 Share Posted May 29, 2019 If they have the Filet mignon on the first night and you enjoy beef, no need to spend money to go elsewhere,, Can check the BLU menu before deciding,

Filet Mignon vs reduced price at Specialty.
