Ship Comparison Chart

I just noticed this on the HAL website and I don't think it has been discussed. It is a single page chart showing which ships have which bars, restaurants, etc.

It's a great chart when trying to decide between multiple ships doing Pacific Coastals. Suprised that the more expensive cruise didn't have Billboard, Lincoln Center or even on-demand TV. Made the right choice. Very helpful! Thanks for posting.

Only 2 ships have a piano bar??  I thought Rotterdam had one. Just booked our first HAL cruise on The Rotterdam. After looking at that chart I am not so sure I made the right choice. We do have a refundable deposit.

Based on the chart, they will add Billboard on Board (duo playing two pianos at once) in December, 2019. Perhaps they still have the old piano bar until the retrofit. Best to check with HAL.

Rotterdam, at least currently, has The Mix which is a combination of the old Piano Bar and Martini Lounge. There is still a piano and the "feel" of a piano bar with a single piano player.

What's interesting is that Seattle has apparently made the decision - discussed in an earlier thread - to convert the Mix Bar concept, about ten years old now, on three of the four "R"-class ships, Rotterdam, Zaandam and Volendam (Amsterdam is one of two ships ship left with a dedicated piano bar, Noordam, a Vista-class ship, is the other) to the Billboard Onboard concept with twin pianos. Noordam appears also to be getting Billboard instead of her Sports Bar and part of the Casino during her dry-dock later this year and, like her three sisters, will be getting a new casino bar where the piano bar used is currently located

Secondly, it appears that the production casts and shows have been/will be replaced by BBC Live, Post Modern Jukebox and the One Step Dance Company

Also interesting is that only the K and NS have Club Orange. Originally HAL said it would be added to more ships (at one point they said "across the fleet in 2019"). But considering they've got dates into 2020 for other changes, and no dates for adding CO, I wonder if they have given up on carving out part of the MDR on other ships to make a CO.

Info we received on K-dam in March was that they - Seattle - were planning to place CO inside a portion of the main dining rooms of the twelve ships that do not currently have the space that K-dam and Nieuw S have, kinda like the Canaletto inside the Lido concept.Time will tell

Also interesting that the "Rijksmuseum at Sea" concept, currently only on Westie, appears nowhere in the chart

Yes, this is quite handy.  I don't know if this chart will determine whether I cruise a specific ship, but I will use it after booking and see what's on my ship.  Thank you so much.

I forgot about the Rijksmuseum thing. Guess HAL has, too.

Odd that the EXC in Crows Nest wasn't added to K, even though it's on NS, the 2 signature class ships, and they're adding it to Noordam so it will be on the 4 vistas.

Me thinks Rijksmuseum at Sea has been ground filed, at least for the time being, so only Westie's Guest Services staff and pax will be subjected to that huge Canadian goose staring at them. As far as K-dam not getting the full EXC stuff in her Crow's Nest, might have been a budget issue since all "dry-dock ships" are issued a budget to stay under

I beg to differ, Sarge, but that's not a Canada Goose; that's a snow goose.   Here's what a Canada goose looks like:

I noticed that they left libraries off the chart.  I know the older R class ships are suppose to still have libraries.  I hope this is still true as I won't sail on any ship without one.

It's also a Colorado goose - thousands of them here, and they never migrate anywhere - just fly in big groups around & around during spring & fall.  And congregate on the golf courses.
