MARELLA DISCOVERY 2

Recommended Posts

We are considering a cruise on Marella Discovery 2 which departs from Palma de Mallorca.  To anyone that has recently sailed from this port, where was the ship docked?  Last year due to where the ship (Dream on this occasion) was docked, it was too far away from the port entrance to go ashore and we were only on a 7 day cruise. Any responses would be much appreciated.  🙂🙂

Out of 6 cruises from Palma we have only ever berthed at the far dock (near the naval base) once.  The one time we boarded there Marella provided a free shuttle into Palma centre.

Returned last Saturday.

Unsure if Marella have the same dock throughout the season or not, or if they swap with Aida (or some other ship) at some point.

Boarding day, turnaround day, and departure day we were docked in the same location, in our opinion the best one, closest to the main road.

Aidanova was also there on the same dates, and we think also on turnaround given the activity and their timings. They were opposite us in a much further away location and were using shuttles.

Portopi shopping centre was just a few minutes away across the main road and uphill. If you want to shop, just follow the crew! Returning by bus, this is the stop you want.

Going into Palma by bus, exit the terminal building, cut across the little garden in front (ever so slightly left-ish) which takes you to the main road. Turn right. Bus stop is a three to four minute walk from there.

We never heard nor read anything at all to do with Marella shuttles in Palma.

Many thanks to you all for your helpful responses.  Have now booked our cruise departing 15 June....not long!!  Installed the vessel finder app and will have a look tomorrow when ship is in dock.  Happy cruising!  😎🛳️

She is using the closer berth today.

If you turn left after leaving the ship and walk on the left side of the road, there is a pavement, you can get to the Porto Pi shopping mall without encountering any hills. there is a pedestrian crossing just before the roundabout
