Scuba Diving from Amber Cove Reviews Needed

Has anyone ever gone Scuba Diving while in Amber Cove for the day? We have 2 stops there on a B2B  and HAL does not offer any SCUBA excursions. Yjere seem to be alot of local dive shops and would really appreciate any first hand experience.

Amber Cove is just a port built by Carnival, no city nearby.  You have to travel by highway an hour to Puerto Plata for a city, resorts, and a dive shop.  I know a few years ago, Carnival had scuba excursion there, but it got horrible reviews, so they dropped it.  All of the complaints were the hour bus ride to dive shop to get gear and paperwork, then 2 dives on mediocre reef sites, then hour ride back... lots of travel for just ho hum diving.  We didn't do it, just letting you know what I saw.
