Where to stay in Miami?

Hotels in the Blue Lagoon area near MIA are very popular for those flying in late who just want dinner and a room.  There is a local strip mall across the street from the Hampton Inn; Homewood Suites and other s are nearby.

La Quinta East is a budget option popular with cruisers and includes a shuttle to the port, but it is very isolated.

Tons of options by the airport, MIA is one of the largest airports in the country, so of course the amount of hotels near by is endless. It is a good choice if you are getting in late.

If you are coming in during the day before though, see if you can get a hotel in Downtown Miami or Brickell. Great area to walk around, see some sights, and then a 10-min drive to the port.

If you are not looking already check prices at MIA and FLL airports.

While there are a lot of hotels around the airport, I would second John's advice about Blue Lagoon.  Not all areas around the airport are created equal (safe).  Blue Lagoon is excellent, very safe and quite nice.  The north side of the airport not so much.

We're booked to stay at Hampton Inn Midtown Miami for a couple of nights. I haven't seen many comments for Midtown but after researching it looks a good spot. Plenty of restaurants and bars around plus the shops at Midtown a few blocks away. The airport is about 15 mins away while the port is 5-10 mins away

We stayed at the blue lagoon two years ago .  It was very nice quiet and safe.  Easy check in and check out.    It has a nature path near the lagoon.  It is booked quickly.  We are leaving on a cruise in March and they are already booked for our dates and we chose another Hilton.
