HOU/Galveston Transportation

Looking specifically for transportation advice. We are flying into HOU on Saturday August 10. Cruising out of Galveston on Sunday August 11 - Saturday August 17. Flying home out of HOU on Monday August 19. Hoping to not rent a car. What other options do we have? Shuttle services? I saw VIP Express mentioned. May check with them. Thinking of staying near the airport the night we get there but in Galveston for the two nights after the cruise. We would need to get to the port on Sunday and back to the airport the following Monday. Are there hotels near the port that offer shuttles to/from the port? Would we need a car in Galveston for the 2 nights we want to stay there or is the area walkable or is there good public transportation? Thanks for all your help!

There are hotels in Galveston near the port that you can walk to terminals (Treemont and Harbor House) . Others generally offer services of shuttles to/from the port? You do not need a car in Galveston for the 2 nights you want to stay there. The areas of Seawall on Gulf of Mexico and Old Town Strand by Terminals are easily walkable. There is good public transportation in the Island Trolley system to most all tourist destinations ! 

 

Galveston is a major tourist destination with lots to do !  Saturday nights are tough nights for hotel rooms. Start booking now.
