What have they done to your Cuba cruise?

“I wonder if the 50% is on full cruise fare or cruise fare without NCCF's.  I still don't see a chnge to my 7/8/19 sailing on-line although others have seen a change.  When I go in my cruise planner it still shows Havana.  Wondering what the July 8th port change actually is.”

I am on this cruise too.  I don’t see a change in my actual itinerary yet, but the name of the cruise did change.  The port charge is for Key West. KW wasn’t cancelled. The other stop now is their Coco Cay island.

The injustices to that community - whatever they are - should not affect the other 300 million plus US citizens who want to travel where they want. To my knowledge, no one is forcing those US citizens to go to Cuba or support Cuba in any way.

My response was based on a political post earlier that basically said this was the right thing to do for political reasons. I respectfully disagree.

I don't like discussing politics either, but this was a political decision that has a real impact on cruising, which is the purpose of this board.

Wow, that says a lot. It’s too bad that the injustices of that community interfere with the vacation plans of people with your mindset. I hope that you are never in “that community “.

Well.. Im interested is finding out too.. I got my cruise through the MyVegas, so I did not "pay" for it. I called the ClubRoyale customer service and the guy told me we will be getting an onboard credit of 50% of the cruise fare listed in the invoice I received after they completed the booking using my points.

I believe when I see it. Because this is too good to be true. All in all, I booked the cruise and did not pay for it, and will get 50% back in onboard credit. Not to mention that Cuba was not my favorite choice (been there many times in resorts all over the island) so it seems to be a win-win situation for me, avoiding the paperwork to enter Cuba with a visa, etc.

Gotta love MyVegas.  I miss the old rewards but I am glad they still offer some!  Back in 2016 we got a week on the Oasis for 400K pts I think.  I miss those days! 🙂

Now that I always book through the casino and get either casino rates or comps I cannot use myvegas anymore

No kidding... last year I missed a chance to get a 5 nights for 750k points... This Cuba cruise now set me back 2 MILLION points...

So Im welcoming any onboard credit, if it does happen.

I am sure (well not sure but hopeful) that you, and those of us who have comped cruises on these sailings, will get an email with the details.  I think there are alot of Casino folks on the Majesty and Empress sailings this summer as there was a comp released not long ago

Just got a note from Royal that the 7/8 sailing is now Nassau and Perfect Day. Ummmm. Would rather KW.

I’m on this cruise. My online account shows changed to:

1) Ft L

2) Nassau

3) Coco Cay

4) At Sea

5) Key West

6) Ft L

I’m on this cruise. Key West is the last day according to my online itinerary. They are only showing you the changed ports. See my entry above.

We booked an eight night Cuba cruise back in March for this coming October on Empress.  I just checked on the RCI site and they now have our itinerary listed as Grand Cayman, Belize, Costa Maya and Florida Keys without even notifying us.  The only reason we decided to go on Empress was solely to go to Cuba.  Our original cruise had us in Havana overnight and another day in Cienfuegos.  I would never pick a ship this size even for a short cruise anywhere else.  I read that Carnival is already offering their guests a refund or credit.  Will we have the right to demand a 100% refund?  What about being reimbursed for our flight to Florida which we have already booked?  It doesn't seem like RCI could refuse to return our deposit under these circumstances.  Does anyone know what we can do?

they are giving you the option to cancel with full refund. Flights are another issue...

You can read the posts on this thread.  That's as much information as there is right now.

For those currently booked on Cuba cruises (Empress and Majesty?), what have you heard from RCI about what is going to happen to your trip?

You can cancel and get a full refund or you can sail and get a 50% refund of cruise fare excluding taxes.

If you checked the RCI site to see your itinerary has changed, you should have also seen the notice posted on the RCI site for the travel update they’ve issued with the option of cancelling or a 50% credit on the revised itinerary.

FWIW, this isn’t RCI’s fault, and, imho, your terminology of wanting to “demand” a refund is a bit harsh, and completely unnecessary.

Post from RCCL on FB:

Is the refund straight to your card or as onboard credit? If you don’t use all onboard credit does it get put back into your bank account?

Royal Caribbean InternationalThat's right. The amount will be based on your total cruise fare, excluding any taxes and fees. If your onboard spend does not reach this amount, the remaining balance will be refunded to your credit card on file once you’ve completed your sailing. -Val

Here is the latest from Royal Caribbean per their website:

Cuba Travel Policy Update - June 05, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. (EDT)

Royal Caribbean's Facebook for Live UpdatesRoyal Caribbean's Twitter for Live UpdatesRoyal Caribbean's Instagram for Live Updates

Effective immediately, the U.S. government has implemented new regulations that prohibits travel from the U.S. to Cuba by cruise ship. This change requires us to immediately replace all Cuban ports. For all 2019 sailings on both Majesty of the Seas and Empress of the Seas, we have secured alternative ports and we are in the process of communicating the new itineraries to our guests and travel partners. For these guests, they will have the option of remaining on their sailing with the new itinerary and receiving a 50% refund or they may cancel their cruise and receive a full refund.

For 2020 sailings on both Majesty and Empress of the Seas, we are working to secure alternative itineraries and expect to be able to communicate to our guests and travel partners within the next week.

We are sorry for this unexpected and sudden change to our guests’ upcoming vacations and appreciate their understanding.
