Airport transportation in Stockholm

We are staying at the Stockholm Sheraton and want to know the best way to get to the airport. Thanks.

Best is subjective - do you want the most convenient method or the most affordable? The Sheraton is located a mere 3 minute walk to Central Station. From Central Station, it is an 18 minute train ride to the airport using the Arlanda Express (this is what we used). Tickets prices are 295 SEK, single adult or 2 adults for 350 SEK.  The Arlanda Express arrives underneath the airport terminals at Arlanda South Station (serves terminals 2, 3 and 4), and Arlanda North Station, (serves terminal 5). There are 4 trains per hour (6 per hour during rush hour). Very easy - no fuss, lots of luggage space, comfortable & clean. Get off the train, hop on the escalator or lift & you are in the terminal.

Info here: https://www.arlandaexpress.com/step2.aspx

Taxi is totally hassle free but more expensive (approximately 600 -745 SEK, depending on traffic) .

I think there may also be a bus option.

In addition to the Arlanda Express, commuter rail also serves Arlanda Central. The fare is quite modest - it's part of the Stockholm region public-transit system - but there is a surcharge of SEK 120 to board or exit at the airport station. (The surcharge is included in the Arlanda Express fare.) The time from Stockholm City Station - under the T-Centralen Metro station - is 36 minutes. The total fare is SEK 152, SEK 142 if you qualify for the discounted fare. So it takes about twice as long as the Arlanda Express but costs about half as much.

There is also the Flygbussarna airport bus for SEK 99 (app or online purchase) from the Cityterminalen, which is adjacent to the train stations in central Stockholm. Because there is no surcharge for the Arlanda train station - it stops directly at the terminals - it costs less than either train, but takes about 45 minutes, depending on road traffic.

The least costly way is by a combination of commuter rail and local bus, connecting between them at Märsta. This avoids the surcharge for the airport train station, but takes just over an hour. The fare, without the discount, is SEK 32 or 45, depending how you pay it.

I understand about dragging luggage around. However, if you decide to reconsider, the Arlanda Express is very easy. There are escalators in the train stations,  comfortable seats on the train with luggage storage, and no traffic concerns. We prepaid for the tickets online. We took it Friday and were very pleased with the experience.

I've now traveled one way on the Arlanda Express and the other way on commuter rail; commuter rail takes longer but is equally comfortable and about half the price. If you need to connect between the train and the T-bana (Metro), it is an easier connection with the commuter rail and also probably easier at Odenplan than at T-centralen.

Hi All, anyone arranged transport, taxi, or other from the Port to Arlanda Airport.  Have heard very conflicting reports about transport from the Port.  Can anyone shed some light on this for me.  Thanks in anticipation.

If you walk out of the port, there are taxis waiting there.  A young man working there heard us talking about wanting Taxi Stockholm, and said follow me.  He took us straight through and got us in with TS.  We used Taxi Stockholm for the airport to the hotel, hotel to port, port to hotel, and then hotel to airport.  All four had English speaking drivers, very nice cars, and if you used their app, you could order a taxi from where you were.  It was nice at 3:00 am to see exactly where our car was while waiting because the app has a map that tracks your assigned car.
