liptastic Posted June 18, 2019 #78 Share Posted June 18, 2019 Really enjoying your live blog as always. Like the excursions you have picked . Great photos and commentary look forward to the cruise. Weather up here in Scotland this evening is still bright and sunny and currently the days are long and not dark really overnight. Enjoy exploring the Navigator fresh from dry dock. Jean. Rare Zqueeze1 Posted June 19, 2019 Author #85 Share Posted June 19, 2019 IRT The Boss editing my comments, we agreed that she has full editing rights as long as she is up on time to read what I write. Well, there you have, sports fans, it’s 0530 and she won’t be up for another couple of hours. I do tell her what I write and she usually gets a chuckle out of it or hits me with dagger eyes. Rare Zqueeze1 Posted June 19, 2019 Author #86 Share Posted June 19, 2019 Good morning: It feels great to be back onboard a Regent ship. It is a calm, surrealistic early Wednesday morning with no one around to swap lies with. I will post about the changes later after we can get a more comprehensive list compiled. We took off for a walk on the morning prior to our ride arriving in search of some melatonin. It seems that my intelligent bride miscounted and did not bring enough melatonin. I’m not even going to touch that one although there are about half a dozen comments floating through my head. Note to self: bring your own melatonin when traveling to the UK since it requires a prescription to purchase it. We decided to take a power walk to check out Royal Albert Hall and ran into this monument for Queen Victoria: I always get a kick out of these signs at crossing points. We returned to our hotel and got ready for our trip to Southampton. At 1050, we checked out, hired a crew to lug our bags, and hopped onto our car from Blackberry Transfers. The driver did an excellent job getting us pierside in one piece although he was pushing 87 miles an hour at times. As a person who suffers from anxiety issues, there weren’t enough mantras to keep me going. We made it to Southampton in an hour and forty minutes and sat for forty five minutes before we were checked in. I tell you, the Brits are phenomenal organizers. They totally ruled the check in process. Every person working at the pier was trained by Royal Marine Commandos and herded through in record time. We were onboard by 1340 and enjoying a glass of Monopole champagne en route to lunch. We were so busy saying hello to crew members that I forgot Karen and John’s food porn pics! The prime rib was mouth watering and just melted as you cut it. So far, we have run into Ray Solaire (CD), Maggie who recently married Hector from Honduras. They both work as waiters in Compass Rose. Maggie used to work with Mario who, sadly, just departed (went home not croaked), the famous Elvis, Kerry, and others whose names I can’t recall. It is always nice to see crew members we recognize and who recognize us. We asked if Olga the Bartender was onboard and were told that she was. No sooner than we mentioned it a New York Giants linebacker shows up and says in a deep voice, “I am Olga.” Oops, wrong Olga. Our Olga is apparently now working on a European river boat cruise. We really miss her. In the interest of embarrassing myself, I had a couple of wines at lunch and realized I had enough when I was seeing double during the life boat drill. Of course, I was cut off by The Boss and told to fly right for the rest of the evening. Dinner was excellent and we noticed that Compass Rose was not very crowded and the room temperature was perfect. During previous cruises, I’ve had to step out during dinner because the room was so hot. We finished the evening listening to the pianist in the Navigator lounge and were in bed by 2230. I’ve been awake since 0400 and am in my favorite morning spot, the Coffee Connection, where I can do most of my writing. Apparently, someone was medevaced early this morning via helo. Writing is a piece of cake for me because I’m a narcissist. However, it takes about twenty minutes or so to load pics from onboard since the internet is so slow. Sheltieluv Posted June 19, 2019 #93 Share Posted June 19, 2019 Z, Thanks for the staff report. Sorry to hear that Mario is "gone"--I wonder if he will return, or didn't renew his contract? Happy to hear that Elvis is in the building tho! We haven't seen him in years, and he's a lot of fun. I am really enjoying your posts and look forward to reading them daily. Enjoy your cruise! Copenhagen to Amsterdam. Please give a bear hug to some of the best crew members on Regent: ( I am the lady with the O2 and red scooter) Franck and Odul - for being so gracious in their help with our lost luggage. Ray - for helping me when my scooter fell on my leg in Newcastle. Olga, Maggie and Mario - for the best service.. Enjoy the British Isles and our best to TB, Diana and John. Rare RachelG Posted June 19, 2019 #95 Share Posted June 19, 2019 Loving your posts so far. George seldom reads what I write either--same rule as yours--he has to be up to read it before I post, and sleeping is his favorite activity on board a ship. xrvlcruiser Posted June 19, 2019 #96 Share Posted June 19, 2019 Mario extended his last contract to stay to the end of the WC - and possibly beyond, through dry dock - so he's on vacation. I have no information regarding his next contract though. Peggy

I wish more people did the live updates! If more posters indicated that they would like more live updates, there would be more. While we will be posting live from our Crystal cruise in September, I wasn't sure what I would have to post on our Explorer transatlantic cruise in November. Your post gave me a reason to post live.
