Rare pierces Posted June 17, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 17, 2019 Pictures taken between Monday, June 17 and Sunday, June 23. Rules: See above That's it. This isn't a contest. All photos taken this week are welcome (not just cruising). Prizes will not be awarded. Discovering the joy of photography is the prize. The idea is to get folks out using their cameras for more than vacations and toddler birthdays. Post one. Post many. Up to you. Have fun with your camera and share your fun with others! Rare pierces Posted June 24, 2019 Author #16 Share Posted June 24, 2019 Triskaidekaphobia is defined as a fear or avoidance of the number 13. Why is triskaidekaphobia a Picture-A-Week subject? Because this week Savannah turned 13 and by that action, we acquired our third concurrent teenage granddaughter. As grandparents, we don't have quite the back-breaking responsibility of raising them directly but it doesn't lessen the desire for them to be safe or the anxiety that life will deal them dirt. We are fortunate that all three are level headed, smart, excel in school and pretty much anything they do. But still... It’s hard for me to just sit back and relax with such pretty things facing a potentially ugly world. Fortunately, hoplophobia is not a problem. Krazy Kruizers Posted June 24, 2019 #17 Share Posted June 24, 2019 Dave -- you do have to worry. It is a crazy world out there -- so many evil people. Love those candles!! Happy 13th Birthday to Savannah. Lovely granddaughter.
zackiedawg Posted June 25, 2019 #18 Share Posted June 25, 2019 Late to adding some shots from the last weekend - but I braved the 98 degree temp, 86% humidity, and heat indexes approaching 120 degrees to walk the wetlands and see what managed to stay alive in that weather: Red-winged blackbird female mom guarding her eggs from the direct sun, taking all the heat herself: A raccoon up a tree, looking for little fruits, took a peek at me through the branches: Closeup with a green iguana: A basilisk, aka 'Jesus' lizard, chilling out in the shade on a tree stump: A curious female cardinal sitting on the bottom rail of my patio deck recliner, watching me in the pool after that hot day: A very relaxed squirrel, with his own patio lounge recliner...an overturned pot:
