Self-guided fishing in Bermuda?

I will be there for a couple of days in July on the Celebrity Summit. I am probably not going to be able to go out on a fishing charter, but I would like to bring a travel/backpack fishing rod and strike out on my own from the dock and nearby shore...possibly even rent a small boat one of the days.

 

I've been researching local bait shops and trying to determine what you can/can't bring aboard Celebrity Cruises as far as fishing gear/tools/knives, etc.

 

I'd love to hear any advice or experience anyone has had doing this. Thanks!
