We are sailing out of Miami on 4/23 and were wondering if anyone has stayed at any of the hotels nearby (we are flying down the day before) and which ones provide transportation to and from the airport/port.

Your info on the South Florida hotels is more than a little off... VERY OUT OF DATE! Many many things have changed since that was compiled.

Not only do those not belong, but the Fort Lauderdale hotels mentioned do not have transfers to the Port of MIAMI, OR MIA, and in fact one of those no longer exists, and some of the others have eliminated their shuttles!

After much research (actually hours) and reading review after review, I decided to try my luck at Priceline.

 

WELL - I was able to get the Sofitel Miami for $85/night! Expedia and Hotels.com showed this same hotel for $224/night. I am thrilled!!!!!!

 

Trent - I hope you aren't going to tell me that this place is not worth it! The other 2 couples we are traveling with are sooooooo excited! Please, give me your opinion on this deal - I hope I got a good one!

No, you did GREAT!!! :) You got an excellent price, especially for the time of year you're coming, and the Sofitel MIA is a VERY nice hotel... In fact someone just posted a review of it this morning with a link to some pictures even... http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=286317

I was so excited about getting such a good price that I told my friends we should consider arriving before the scheduled 5:00 pm - in other words, change our flight - but I'm not sure about what's around there and whether it would be worth the hassle. What do you think?

 

Whew - glad that's over! Now we can just sit back and relax while we wait for our cruise!

There isn't a whole lot to do right around the Sofitel, but you can certainly take a cab over to South Beach... That's a LOT of fun, and a great place to spend an evening. There are many many wonderful restaurants/sidewalk cafes, shops, clubs, and some of the best people watching on the planet! ;)

Trent, just to ask a quick question on your last post....how far is South Beach from the Sofitel by cab and the cost?
