Rare mac_tlc Posted June 26, 2019 #27 Share Posted June 26, 2019 On Symphony in January, on embarkation day, , the Diamond CL got us our requested reservations at CK (we were in a lowly-JS), after I stood outside the SL and CK waiting for any signs of life inside, since the JS SeaPass cards don't open the door. One stop shopping, very pleasant. mac_tlc

Seville2Cabo Posted June 26, 2019 #30 Share Posted June 26, 2019 So we have had about 5 cruises as diamond and I’ve never met or heard from the concierge. So never tipped them. Where are they located? Are they supposed to contact me? We are not regulars in the DL as we travel with not regular cruisers, but once a cruise we find our way I. They are located in the Diamond Lounge. There will be a sign there with the normal office hours of the Concierge. The Diamond Concierge typically does not routinely contact guests in advance. bonsai3s Posted June 26, 2019 #32 Share Posted June 26, 2019 One of the first things we do once onboard is to say hello to the concierge(s) and loyal ambassador. We are pretty quiet but when we need assistance or have questions, we prefer asking the concierge and only go to guest services when we run out of dollar bills for tips. We truly appreciate some of the things they've done for us through the years. Some random thoughts.........yes, they've printed our airline boarding passes, removed incorrect charges on our account, reserved coastal kitchen, escorted us off the ship, help us get seats in the lounge, gave us port information that only they would know (they visit the same port every week so they have valuable inside information on where to go and how to get there), and one in particular, MJ, helped us when we were already home disputing an onboard credit not given to us by our ex-TA...MJ immediately emailed the TA and confirmed that no OBC were ever posted during our cruise...solved...obc credited. Yes, we tip all of them...unless of course they are MIA.

Sancho_proudfoot Posted June 26, 2019 #34 Share Posted June 26, 2019 Until l read about the DC on here a while back l also never knew that they existed. Seems almost like a hidden perk of reaching Diamond. Will now know to use the DC on the next cruise!

Alan, the concierge didn't do anything special in particular, but he was so pleasent, greeting everyone like a long lost friend, making sure everyone had a seat and was comfortable, helping the waiters with topping up glasses and generally being an excellent host.

Sure he did... he ran the Diamond Lounge. He made sure that food and drinks were available, coffee machines filled, waiters were efficient helping with refills, making sure everyone had seats, were comfortable. He didn't do anything special for YOU likely because you didn't need anything special done. One poster said they didn't even know the Diamond Concierge existed. Well, wonder who they thought ran the lounge? If you never use the concierge, I would think that is the sign of a great cruise. No problems to solve, a smooth running lounge, etc. The only time we don't tip a concierge is if things are amiss and the concierge hides from the problems. That has happened. But if the lounge runs smoothly and we enjoy it, the concierge greets people, solves any problems, etc. then we always tip.

When we were on the Snowbird Migration a few years ago, he called our cabin twice a day - morning and afternoon! Upon returning to work after that cruise, I greeted my office mates with "good morning you beautiful people"! LOL! 😀
